Compression question for blower motor

Whats everbody running for compression? My Spectra has a 454 and runnin 7.5 to 1 , Weiand 8-71 8 psi boost. All is well but I was told that running a little higher static (8.5 or 9 to 1) will improve "no boost" performance. Any truth in this or should I stay where i'm at?

i'm @7.9(static ) with a 177 wieland 5lb- ( mota was built for a 8/71 alky mota @ 40 percent over ) i'm happy and have alot more room to build power - - do you know what head gaskets you have ? for a quick low budget fix head gaskets and a shave ! you can also utilize blower boost with cam selection . nice lookin cruiser by the way :D

Stay where you are at. You want more...drive the blower harder. Want more yet..go to alcohol. ;)

what kind of heads alum or iron

8.6:1 (static) 12 lbs. of boost, aluminum heads,innercooler. I have to run AV gas if I want to play. and 91 oct. for just putting around.

I'm running iron heads and Fel-pro's good gaskets. No intercooler yet but thats next? I'm happy with the way it runs... 5200 rpm wot, 8 psi boost, 5.9 % underdrive (51 lower and 54 upper pulley)79 mph turning AT 9.5 inch stainless impeller.

hey spectra is that an 18 or 21 I have an 18 southwind /spectra almost the same setup . nice boat.

Its a 20 Spectra with a 468 bbc / 8-71 Weiand running right at 81 mph @ 5200 with 8 psi boost. Super fun toy!
