Good question! If so, my money is on you and I'm not saying that because I'm a jet guy, or because this is a v-drive or because we both have DNE motors... I'm saying based upon running the v-drive and stabbing the throttle next to you. So, my money is on the black and grey shaded Daytona!

There'll be a few big dogs at FC2, and just for shits and grins, I may make up an asshanders award. Guaranteed I'll be the slowest there, but then again, I cruuuuuuise, not race. It'll be worth the price of admission to see who (if anyone) hands Tony or Billy B their ass. Better use CBBB as a T&T, 'cuz come October, the bullshit stops. It'll be a long winter for whoever no shows, or talks smack and chokes. They'll be buyin' a LOT of beer Saturday night at the Catfish. :D

There were pic of the actual install? I didn't even realize Trav had the camera out for that part. That was hilarious. Not enough room to get the hoist into the garage with the boat, so we just improvised a bit... "the alley is officially closed" :D
I'll have to grab that issue for prosperities sake. Especially since his boat is runnin so well these days.

Isn't that the truth. I'm behind on my tunnel ram top (nothin got done while I was away) but don't tell Dave. ;) I plan on a pretty big pile of chips on the floor and to have it done late tonight/early tomorrow morning. Just a little concerned that all the work to integrate the 4degrees into the the top is going to cause some "issues" with the functionality of the shear plates. But since its all black magic voodoo mumbo jumbo anyways we;'ll just run it and see what we get. :D

If 2/3 of the people who are signed up show up, there's no way that we and anyone else who comes to the Avi are going to fit. Personal opinion, but there just ain't room for 50 boats in that lagoon. Just a thought. Should be an amazing sight, all those hot boats.

That point you're talking about is what a few of us call "Miss America" . It has to do with an exceptional female, a stars and stripes bikini, and little else. Anyhow, that stretch should hold quite a few boats. The south end of that stretch is a little rocky, so if you beach, be careful.

one nice thing about that cove (Miss America) is that you dont have to beach the boats. the water is so calm that a small anchor will hold yours and others. the water is not deep and you can basically anchor out and walk to shore. (ok, maybe a little deeper than that) the bad thing is that there is not much beach (sand). especially if the locals take up the beach with thier boats. though they are all pretty cool and im betting would be more than happy to help us out for this occassion. id even be willing to take the truck with some EZ-ups and ice chests up to the levey, and from there we can get them to the other side of the cove by boat.

Okay,
Here's the unofficial stance on the get together away from the get together deal. Technically you need a permit from the feds/coast guard to hold an event ON the river. Because of this issue and the fact that we live in a litigious society, and there is no way the get together could be anything near free if we had to pay for liability insurance, we hold it at the Avi.
If people want to hook up on other beaches/areas of the river that’s cool and we understand completely. You have to remember that when this started out, Jason and I figured we wouldn't see that many boats. I honestly would have never thought our classic boat community would come together the way it has. And what is scary (in a good way) is that I know if somehow the invisible wall that keeps most flatty owners away from jet boats was taken down, the numbers would almost double instantly :D
The CBBB related activities for the kids etc will be on the beach, in the cove at the Avi. Voting on the various categories of boats will happen on the beach, in cove at the Avi (though your boat could be seen anywhere with its number and someone could vote for it). T-shirts will be sold on the beach, in the cove at the Avi. Staging for photographs will be set up on the beach, in the cove at the Avi. The awards ceremony on Saturday evening will happen either on the grass above the beach of the Avi, or over in the pool area at the Avi. I can promise that the most fun anyone is going to have on Friday and Saturday night will be in the lounge or parking lot, at the Avi :)
All that being said, the initial idea of the event 3, almost 4 years ago was to have a get together of classic boat owners where they could kick back at the river, but have plenty of other nice boats to look at, and owners to swap stories with and share ideas with. While the event has gotten larger, this part hasn't changed. So whether your chattin up a Southwind owner on Miss America Beach, or comparing setup notes on your Rogers on the beach at the Avi, you're doin what we set out to do... have a good time on the river with fellow true hot boat enthusiasts.
Tyson and I agonized over the location for this year knowing that attendance would be higher than last year. (Though we didn't quite foresee our current numbers). Simply put, the Avi is the best mix of runable river, accommodations, kid friendly activities, ease of dining, and evening activities etc. The cove is too small. We know that, the Avi knows that and they're working on a solution for next year, but when we looked at all the variables it was still the best place to hold the event to try and accommodate the different situations of such a diverse demographic.
A couple things to think about that may help you decide how/where you want to spend your time throughout the weekend:
1. Sign in as soon as you can. We will have a nice big white EZ up with a banner on it so you'll know where to go. Once you sign up, you get your goodie bag, and inside that is the itinerary for the weekend. Pick what you want to be around for, and go from there. We'll be out there signing folks up on Friday afternoon and Saturday morning. Plus the sooner you sign up, the sooner your boat has a number which is its identification for category voting.
2. When we're trying to round up 40 kids for events, things don't start off right on time. Allow a little extra time (especially knowing how crowded the beach/lagoon will be) for the events to start and end.
3. This whole deal is super informal, so don't expect us to be wearing event staff T-shirts having 2way radios and patrolling the whole weekend. We're out there to have fun too, so if you have any questions, or concerns, stop by the CBBB tent and let us know. I know last year a few people’s feelers got hurt because they didn't know who we were and felt like they were left to hang on their own. Simply put it’s a busy weekend for us, and we won't have time to swing by and greet every participant. Once again, the tent will be clearly visible and any of our very valued helpers or us are super friendly and will assist you as best we can.
4. Basically think of the whole weekend as a trip to the river with family and friends. A trip where basically you do what you want, when you want. The only difference is that some of your family/friends have planed some activities for the kids, set aside some time for group pictures and rounded up some nice raffle, giveaway, and category prizes.
There will be more posted on the voting criteria/prizes etc in a different thread and of course printed in your goodie bag that you receive when you register.
Thanks,
Your CBBB staff

Flat broke,
My posting another area upriver was not meant to take away from CBBB in any way. I understand the liability concerns, and your reasoning for the venue. It is going to get a little tight Saturday, and I suspect the same thing will happen this year as last.... a group will go out for a cruise, and nobody will know where they are. My thinking is that, at the least, if there is a general area where others may be (and not coordinated by the organizers), when it comes voting time, picture time, etc., they can be located so as not to miss out. I didn't intend to overstep my bounds, or expose anyone to liability.
See ya there!

Mike,
No worries about overstepping bounds, or any of that. My post was actually meant to clarify not chastise <sp> We know everyone can't possibly fit in the cove this year, but we also know lots of folks do their own thing anyhow. Crap, I wish I could do my own thing that weekend :D I'd be burnin broker check after broker check on gas, throwin roosters and washing cars on the bridge :)
I think your idea is good, it gives those that are out cruising and don't want to fight back into the lagoon an idea where the other attendees will be hiding out. Thats one of the nice things about all the board events; attendees are always looking to help out and make the experience better for everyone. It's genuinely welcomed and appreciated.
One thing I wanted to mention and actually sould get its own thread or post...
The Avi will not reserve any beach space for us this year, and EZ ups will have to be taken down each night. Yes they know we're a big group, yes they love having us there, and yes we are actually one of the best groups they get throughout the year. All that asside the GM of the hotel won't budge. We warned them that if we didn't have our own spot, we couldn't assure them that we wouldn't take the whole beach. There is a very good solution in the works for next year and we're just going to have to tough it out this year. If ya want beach space, someone from your group is going to have to get out there early and take it.
Now enough of all the negative stuff. :D Back to pictures of boats (lots of people not represented so far) and talking about haulin ass, burnin gas, and gearing up for the "last man standing" on Saturday night!!!!!!!.

no matter how crowded the AVI lagoon gets, it's still the best spot for this event. It doesnt get any better than boating all day, getting trashed in the arrowweed lounge at night with a bunch of rowdy hot boaters and then stumbling back to your own air-conditioned room to raise some more hell! :D
Besides, that's what we all have bumpers for-the traffic jam in the lagoon.

I have been there a few times, I just like how you can pull into that cove and kick it waiting for your truck. Its nice for a "river" launch ramp not having to deal with the current.... but I have also launched out of the one on the river when the water was low.
