Mike, that is way cool!.  I also had one of those, it was a Galaxie 500XL convertible with a 390 and full power, every option that was available, all black with red interior that was one comfortable ride!...Another one I wish I still had!....

Glad to see you guys are alive.
Art: I thought you were a Chevy guy?
KV: I still have those pics saved, you sent me more than those two I think...VERY nice ride.
Bob: You ARE the reason for me loving the FE so much.
Built FE coming to a flatty near you.
In the off season I am seriously considering building a 449ci FE 10:1 compression with a 100 shot of NOS.
...with the help of Bob's knowledge of course.
FE POWER!

FE POWER!
Only because that was the most economically way to go after Ford quit making the FE. I could build 2 Chevys with the same power for 1 FE...When I worked for a Ford agency I could get a 427 TunnelPort for $800 in the crate...When Ford decided to get out of racing and was cleaning out their shit, I could have gotten Cammers for $300 a piece in the crate!...Naturally at that time I didn't have a pot to piss in!..

That sucks, cammers are like 15-20k now. :D ...dont mean to rub it in or anything! :D
You are right about the Chevy 2 compared to one FE, the crap is available but not as cheap as the Chevy stuff that is over saturated.

Well, from my research I have been reading that a SCAT 4.25" crank with 4340 SCAT I Beam Rods motor bored .60 over = 449ci. is that misleading info? also, .80 over makes 456ci.
Bob has me thinking about just throwing a 428 crank in and making a 416, it would be a bit less.

nice big cam
edelbrock rpm heads (reworked)
edelbrock rpm manifold
single holley up top :D
(hidden) NOS Super Powershot kit 125hp
:D
...coming soon?
Someone: "What do you have in that old flatty?"

I may have to wait for these, I was thinking of Edelbrocks, but have heard the stories behind those from many people. I did not know a company was going to make heads, I have heard people tell me about rumors and how nothing ever happened. I dont know why a company would bother mass producing parts for the FE when they are becoming rare and are not made anymore...

Bad things, I am sure Bob (058) knows what I am talking about. I heard the valves suck as well. I really wanted them too, but if Blue Thunder is for sure, I will hold out.

I've got a .030 over 390 block in the garage. #5 had valve train issues and took some metel down the cylinder (the end of the spark plug as far as I can tell), should clean up nice. All other bores are in good shape, no lip at the the top of bores.
I'd like to sell the entire engine, but I'm willing to part it out. PM me if interested.

I heard that these were going to be some badass heads, I'm anxious to see the exhaust ports in those since that was a big drawback in FE heads like the Tunnel Port heads, sewer pipe intakes with puny exhaust ports!..

Friend with the Cobra runs the Edelbrock heads. Had them for a couple of years now. Races the car at nostagia events and stuff, never had any problem. Motor dyno'd a like 670 hp or something like that.

Man, that's a freakin huge pic, anyway could you make it dial-up friendly??
A question for you turbo guys, why worry about making the header tubes equal lenght?? Doesn't force induction negate the benefits of the header scavaging??
Those tubes do look bad ass though. :D

If I could only convince my woman that its only money. :) I have to do things gradually and make up great excuses for why I am doing it. But, when it comes time to building this motor I am just going to say F IT and do it. I think I will grenade my current one with nitrous so I have to rebuilt one.

Actually, I stretch the truth a bit, she is very flexible and has let me do alot of mods to my cars and such...she just doesnt like to see me go for broke, which is good cause I would probably be on the side of the highway with a sign "Will Work For Engine Parts" or something similar.

It's a Proform modified 4160 that flows around 835 now. I use the Proform bodies on 2 engines (this one, and the 4150 on the Advantage's 460) and am sold on them. I had to stop building this engine... even with the 9" mods and ladder bars, it is severely traction challenged from a dead stop.

dmontzsta
07-24-2004, 10:22 AM
That is a nice looking carb. I hope to step up to the proform mainbody soon.
