Does this go off of CG center of gravity or is there a set amount you put it from the back of the boat?

Are you sure you want to start out blown alcohol and 8 seconds?
I believe I have seen a sanger run the 9 second (TE) class up in Oregon racing with CVDBA. Could have been the 8 second class. One of the guys here might know him and route you his direction for some advise.

Hi Fiat 48
Well not for sure we're looking to run around 140 mph figure the motor will make 1100 hp, we don't know what the hull weighs of if that matters since it's mostly out of the water. Like I said we have lots of ?'s

1st answer: Speed costs money, how fast do you really want to go?.....How much money? Well, take a good guess at what you think it wiil cost, and multiply that number by your phone number, that will get you in the ball park. BTW, there is very little about a boat that resembles anything about a drag car, and 140 on the water is a whole lot faster than 140 on land, I know that sounds impossible, but it's true. There are plenty of guys here to help you with this project, I just hope you're rich, or know a loan officer at the local bank..........Moneypitt

Moneypitt :D :D  phone number multiplier. I always thought is was money square root. :p

Not just with the phone # and square root but it's exponential:eek: After establishing a baseline the first extra 5mph cost you 100.00 the next 5 mph cost you 1000.00 and the next 5 mph comes at a cost of 10,000.00 etc. BTW Clutch if you want to go that fast make the '68 Sanger into a nice lake/ski boat and get yourself a good runnerbottom:)

I suggest you contact Jim Anderson here on the forum. He's an expert in the 140+ range. And he makes one hell of a taco too.

OK now can we be serious???Yes I realize a 68 sanger is not the best choice but I had to sell my TAF capsule that ran 4.00'S haha. I know ALL about the money thing, trust me. can someone send jim my way, or how can we get in touch w/ him. Let's 140 mph all the same( land ) crawl out,(air) get scooped up in a trash bag, (water) wait to quit skipping like a rock and hope there's enough to get picked up in your ballistic pants?? yes/no?

In my honest opinion, I think that your $$$ would be better spent on trying to make a newer vintage (read 1980's and newer) RUNNER-BOTTOM such as a Cole, Hondo, Canyon, etc... go fast.
With the weight of your '68 Sanger (probably 900 lbs BARE) it will take ALL of your 1,100 H.P. (depending on gearing) to hit MAYBE 110 M.PH. once it is set-up properly.
The same amount of horsepower in a properly set-up 500-600 lb. runner-bottom described above will probably net you somewhere in the neighborhood of 125 M.PH.
Also, these M.P.H. numbers I'm referring to are in the 1/4 mile, not the "standard" lake drag race (1/2 mile or so)...

I will second that!! if you have a motor that makes 1100hp you can step up and buy a good boat to put it in. Plus you will need a lot more the 1100 to run a buck forty.

Nope no hoax here and yes I do have a good sense of humor.I think you have to in here you guy's don't cut any slack:D :D :D But the old sanger is what we have all ready got it was the right price so we'll have to run w/ it just need some GOOD advice since we have never had a v-drive,I know it's not rocket science but no use in being stupid about it and getting hurt.

Here is some good advice. Turn the sanger into a ski boat that's all it good for. If you what to go fast and not get hurt here is something to put that 1100hp in.
