Any feedback on the Firestone Firehawk Indy 500 ?
Thinking about them for my Vette vs the ol trusted BF Goodrich T/A's.
Thanks for any feedback.

I'm not familiar with the 500's. I sell tires all day long.
I know of them. But I don't know how they perform.
What size are they?
Try www.tirerack.com We buy alot of tires from them.

Size 255-60R15
Tire Rack showed a very good review, however I got a much better price local $340.00(total) for 4 w/mount and Ballance and tax. The T/A's were a few bucks more. Just thought I'd try something new.

What year is your vette? I have a 1980 with the Goodrich T/A's on it and I hate them, but they look correct for that car, year, bodystyle etc.

That's why I'm on the fence with the Firehawk Indy 500's.
I have no real complaints with the Goodrich T/A's and Im very use to their look but then again I really can't compare them to anything except the original Eagle GT's...which I did NOT like at all!

Nice! Those cars are great, great body style looks like the bat mobile. They are slow as hell but they look good. Does the 81 have the crossfire injection or was that they 82's? Maybe those were faster than mine.

I used to work at a Goodyear that sold Bridgestone/Firestone and my boss put the Firehawks(not sure if they were 500's) on his 30th anniversary vette and LOVED them. I agree the BFG's are ok and the goodyears suck but I am seeing more problems with BFG's and their lack of tread life when the other brands are catching and sometimes passing them in terms of quality.
F-250 4x4 will get Bridgestone Revo's next time around, my cousin has BFG At's and only gets 20k from a set.

The "no fire" came out in 82. My 81 has the computer controlled Q-Jet. I did put a little cam in the Engine. True it's not the muscle car as my 69 SS Chevelle...but it handles, steers, brakes extremely well...plus I like the lines.

Thanks for the feedback...I'll agree that the OE Goodyear Eagle GT's were the worst (MHO).
Just hope I like the looks of the Firehawk Indy 500's on the car as much as the Goodrich T/A's.

Yeah I love the lines also. Mine was a california car and has all kinds of smog crap on it, I am toying with the idea of doing a GM crate motor or just having the 350 rebuilt. I registered it at my parents house so I dont have to get it smog checked anymore. Those cars do have the best brakes ever!

The Bridgestone Potenza RE040 are pretty good. Then tend to be
a little soft though.
And they can be expensive.

I used to run the Firehawks on my 96 Impala SS. Now I have a set of Bridgestone Potenzas RE750's. The Bridgestones are a little pricey but I'm getting more miles out of them. Good ride also.

Dude if they are that cheap then odds are they aren't "performers"

Dude...this is a special price through a friends shop. Normally much more$$$
I'm looking for a "All Season" Performance tire like the Goodrich T/A's on there now...not some 1" sidewall wheel benders as seen on hooptie's:rolleyes:

I am going to go out on a limb here and suggest that these Michellin Pilot Sports would qualify as an "All Season" performance tire... no need to get snotty.. ;)

Take that back. I forgot there 15".
Tires don't get real expensive until you get into 16" on up.
