I know that a lot of boater are bikers. For those of you who own motorcycles (not dirtbikes) I wanted to get an idea of what you own and why you chose that bike or style of bike....

1st bike: CB750F
2nd bike: CB900F (crashed)
3rd bike: CB1100F (stolen)
Got into jet skis next and then PWCs  (figured I'd do better crashing in the water than on asphalt).
No more PWCs or bikes :)

this is my 3rd gsxr had an 89 750,and a 98 600.I have been ridin along time and had some track time too and still prefer the 750 over (the trend to have the 1000s)Simply because any experienced rider knows that the 750 is the perfect size and most useable power.I dont ride it much anymore but still get out on it here and there. So far this is the best bike i have owned to date

Kawasaki KLR 650 - best all around bike in the world. Doesn't excel at anything, but will do anything fairly well. Dirt ( trails and stuff, not motocross,), canyon carving, adventure touring, cruising. Whatever, the KLR kicks ass. I have owned 2 of them, and when I wear out #2, I will buy another one.
Triumph Sprint ST - Easy bike to ride quickly, quickly.
You can hop right on it, point it where you want to go, and it'll get you there in a hurry. I have owned 2 of these, too. Even though it is a 120+hp, it is still cheap to insure. ST stands for Sport Touring, insurers don't view it as a sportbike.
XR 650 R - wanted to try my hand racing GPs. Still own it, but haven't raced since I broke my leg in '02 :(
Why I chose them?
KLR, just walked into a showroom and got lucky. Bought it as a stepping stone to a fast bike, then ended up liking it more than my fast bike
Triumph Sprint ST - fuel injected triple form England. 'nuff said. Have you ever heard a 3 cylinder bike with a nice pipe on it wind up to 9000 rpm?
XR 650 R - wanted to start a spider farm
:D :D :D

Third ~ Yamaha 175 (First thing I ever bought on my own with my own credit)
Fourth ~ Honda 350 Dream (A friends who got killed. His Mom sold it to me.)

Sixth ~ Kawasaki 500 triple cylinder 2 stroke (ran like a spotted ape)
Seventh ~ 1965 Harley pan head (the guy owed me money)
Eighth ~ Big Dog (it looked pretty)
There's more but it's like trying to remember every car.

I haven't had any problems. It only has about 800 miles on it. Everybody uses S&S engines and the same transmissions so the only diff is shock choices etc. I dunno. No probs here.

What I own. Rightshift bikes. Some dirt bikes and my street bike project. Project is a original frame Trackmaster w/ 500 Daytona.
Why? I like different stuff and when someone at asks what I'm ridin in a SEA OF BIKES I say the Daytona Tracker and they know exactly what bike I'm talkin about.

Oh yea, and until my bike is done I borrow my bros Gamma. Like I said we like different. Nothin like kick starting (????:D ) a four cylinder 2 stroke to raise a brow or two.
Funny story- I go to leave a place where bikes hang out and start to kick start my bike. And this wise guy comes over in front ofhis friends and says " If yur batrys dead yur bike aint gonna start." So I say "Electric starters are for street bikes" and he starts laughing and lookin at his buds and says "oh ya? is this a race bike?" I say "sorta" and point to the Bonneville passed tech sticker and his buds just start rollin:D . I gave it another kick and slipped the clutch to about 4500 and left with a big:D

Give it time pirate,
My buddy has 5k on the motor and it let go.
Leaked oil from day one, Transmisson was teaked at 1K,
brakes gone at 2K. Head problems at 2.5K
Electrical gone twice.
Ok so its a lemon.
Everytime I see a big dog owner I stop and talk to them, EVERYONE of them has nothing good to say about the company how they treat their customers and the headache the bike has been. Oh wait, they did say it looked cool sitting in the shop.....
Did you take your bike back for the recall. They had to reinforce the frame due to cracks that cause the bike to split in two.
Took them 12 weeks to fix my buddys.... When it came back it was scratched and the motor had been placed back in the bike WRONG.....

Lake Pirate
07-22-2004, 07:32 PM
Yikes! Our dealer is pretty cool and a stand up guy. I know nothing of a recall either. Maybe it was before my bike? I'm selling it because I don't like the raked front end. I'm more of a fatboy kinda guy!

Kilr I hear that everytime and i want to go, think it would be fun, but i'd be the out of place guy oh well so what good times nice folks what more could i ask for.. So whens the next ride??
If i get the CBR1000RR in the next few weeks the Mrs. is going to take the MSF courses, then get on a near 100hp bike, this should be fun to watchwhere do you guys normally ride to? Rock store?
Castaic? Pyramid? Rosamond? thats where Willow Springs is ocated. Thats a cool ride thru the 138 past the 5 north great turns sweepers most of them, you guys should come out here and try the ride from the I-15 to the 138 then head east to crestline, lots of turns and some beautiful views of Lake Silverwood.
Just my .2 centsbut you gotta try these even if your just cruisin'

Puh-leeze. 5k = a leisurely 2 weeks on a KLR.
No one respects KLRs except the guys that own them.
And we all love them.
Don't fight the KLR borg, just roll with us and buy one... Resistance is futile...

This is the newest bike I've ever owned, a 1987 Ducati Paso 750 (0-60 in 3.6 sec.) I put my shop logo on it and used it as rolling advertisement, I have some color pix somewhere but this is one I used for print ads, the girl is Kristen, I had this and the XLCR at the same time thinking I might meet a woman who wanted to ride, never happened. I was in Spain a couple of years ago and about 1/3 of all the riders were WOMEN! lots of tight leather clad butts, hard to concentrate on driving over there.

That's good to know. I told him to build it however he wants. He's making all the decisions, I figure he's done enough to know what's best. I really hope he's going to chrome the frame. I think that looks pretty sick.

Hey John, your bike's gonna be sweet.... Make sure your "Friend" knows what he's doing.. :D :D haha
I wish I could buy a chopper.. I like Big Bear Choppers, check out their website.. (google it). I can't afford another bike, I'm saving my bread for a 23' ultra..

http://www.bigbearchoppers.com That is also where I will get a bike. $19,500 for a complete chopper, just gotta put it together yourself and paint it for that price but I would love to do that!!! $27K for them to do it all.
I wish I could get one of Jesse's bikes........... when you're done with yours John, give me a call!! :D
The bike will be a couple years though: New house, then new boat, then chopper. For now I'll just stick to the dirt. :D

The cool thing about BBC is that the bike comes in a pallet ready to assemble. Not really building your own chopper, but I guess it's the next best thing. At least you can paint it however you want.
Dan... ;)
