I saw it today when I ordered my f-29... it is powered by a 1300 pony from teague with a six drive. They are just waiting on the motor to finish this one up. From what I heard Bob wanted to build this quad whipple for him

Accually the 29DCB was painted first. Both were done by Dick Vale. They are amazing when rigged & completed. The picture above does the boat NO justice.

I was down there today, and they received the engine for the "Other 29", and were dropping it in while I was there....It was a huge engine...Imagine the engine Infomaniac just built going in a Mach29 with a number 6 and you got the picture; that is one sick looking boat and one phat a$$ engine..(1200HP Quad Whipple)...Sick I say; Sick. :)

Anybody know what the cost comparison would be on the two 29's if someone off the street got a quote? 29 with two healthy motors like Charlies with Bravo style drives vs. the one big bad motor and a six? What do they think the single will do 110-120?

Anybody know what the cost comparison would be on the two 29's if someone off the street got a quote?Well...I'm not an expert, and I've never priced anything from DCB (I didn't pass the snob test), but I'll take a stab:
Boat & trailer- $100K- $110K (give or take) depending on the trailer and options. How close am I Charley?
Single- #6 ($30K) and big motor ($60K?)
Twins- Charley probably can correct my guess and ballpark his twins.
I gotta study for the snob test better.

I gotta study for the snob test better. Maybe I just misunderstood but are you guessing 110k for the whole F-29? I'm probably confused but I'll protest it anyway. If you'd care to look at prices the F-26 with 2 mercs runs 130k! So wouldn't you assume that the F-29 would be much more? I'm probably confused but then again maybe I did read right!

WetWillie

Boat and trailer $100k to $110k. Then you add the drive and motor!
I would say for a respectable F29 you would be in the $160k to $180k range. But of course the sky is the limit!

I still want to see a picture of that boat done..Anyone??

Charley
06-08-2003, 11:33 AM
I don't wanna get into posting prices here but when I was ordering my boat Dave and I chatted about the cost difference between a 1200HP motor with a 6 VS 2 650HP motors with Xtreme SC's .... The actual cost was surprisingly very close! This F-29 promises to be amazing but I'm glad I went Twins :D

$100K plus $80K in motor & drive...sounds close (even if Charley is scared to quote retail pricing)...but I'm no expert.
Is Charley afraid to anger the gods?

Was at DCB today and happened upon that little jewel prior to it's water testing. I know Dave had a difficult last few weeks, but you all shoulda seen the shit eating grin on his face when he's hopping into the truck on his way to the water. Those pictures posted of that 29 do it no justice. I'm sure there are a few cars swervin' on the freeway craning their necks to figure out what the hell they just passed!

I like the paint! I think it will really turn heads.
And any thing over 100 is probable fast enough for parker. He should never have a problem blowing the drive at that speed. Although I think it went faster than 110, that kind of HP on a 29 cat should of produced more.

Ok so here is the scoop ... the boat indeed ran 110 on elsinore...notoriously a sticky/slow lake to begin with. So it seems kinda slow for 1200 horsepower motor huh? Well that's cause it wasn't pushin 1200 HP....Teague is making them run less SC boost and pump gas for a little break in period. Basically the motor is making about 1000-ish HP and 100 of that goes into that #6 with Tranny....so 900 Hp at the prop pushing a 29' 6000 lb boat 110?? sounds pretty good to me..... just for comparison sake here are a few HB test results on " as close to like" setups as I could find
American Offshore 30'6'' 3100 American Offshore 2 x 600SCs Tops speed 102.4 2000
definitely a little bigger boat though.
FORCE 29 Cat 750HP / Imco Drive Top Speed 89.9 2003
Eliminator Daytona 28LP
Weight as tested 6,100 pounds
Engine (2) Teague Custom Marine 509/620HP
Top Speed at rpm Stalker Radar 114.5 mph at 5600

From looking at the two boats, I don't think the guy built this boat to spank his last one...I thought the Warlock was around 900Hp x 2 in a 28 ft cat with Bravo 1 drives...and the new boat is 1200Hp in a 29ft cat with a number 6...Sounds like the guy wanted a little bigger deeper boat that would run around 120 with a solid motor and solid drive that he would not have to worry about..
How much has Warlock25 spent on freshening those those engines since he bought the old boat..
110, 120, its all fast :) ...but being able to do it everyday without having to worry about drives and complex engine setups, is what I would prefer.. :)

You were right on the money. When we got the boat it had twin 950 HP with bravo1 drives.
We are seriously de-tuning the motors to approx 800-850 hp. It should still be plently fast enough.
