I'm going to be rebuilding the motor in my boat this winter and wuold like to get some help from all you motorheads on hear.
The boat is a 1978 howard cruiser v-drive with a 454 and velvet drive. My plan is to bore the motor .030 over up the compression to about 10-1 and put new heads, intake manifold and a more aggressive cam. Wright now the boat does 54mph(gps) @5000rpm with a 11.5 x 14 steel prop. I wuold like to see over 60mph.
Future plans for the boat is a blower motor so if the heads will work well in both NA and blown that wuold be a plus. I was looking at edelbrocks aluminum rect. port marine heads, they have 2.250 stainless intake and 1.880 inconel exhuast valves
the intake runners are 315cc. I know that intake runner size is probably a little too big for now but I thought it wuold work o.k. for a blown deal.
So let me hear your combinations and or suggestions.
Thanks in advanced for any help-Billy;)
