I have D3VE heads, I think they are D3VE-A4 something, I forget the last two digits/letters, are those good, I have seen them posted before but I am too f-in lazy to go look for it.

The best ones are the C9VE-A or DOAE-H [73.5cc, 2.24 in,1.725ex valves].The D3VE-AA heads have 91.4cc chambers [friendlier with pump gas]2.08in,1.66 exh valves. There are heads with 96.2cc chambers which aren't desireable.

The SVO 429/460 aluminum heads are good if you run mainly in fresh water.Part # M-6049-B429.It's a 72 cc chamber.

I run the SVO heads on a 460 in my Hallett. I tried them unported with an 850 and was not impressed. After full port work to both the heads and intake, and going to a 1050, I picked up almost 500rpm over the unported heads. Now I can saw Im pleased.

does anyone know how my heads match against the others ? how the ports measure up against the others and what not.......

Hey Hallet. I hate to be the harbinger of bad news but your ports are "less than ideal". The exhaust ports are a bad desing. Ford had to restrict them to de-tune their 460s. Find some D9VE, C9, C8, or D0's. Those are all the same. I have a drawing of what to do to the exh ports to make them work. Want it? I know where a set of D0VE heads are and I could hook you up. I'm in 29 Palms, CA.

I can send you flow test data for the heads I did a couple months ago. And they just had pretty mild port work. I'd say at least 75 more hp than ported D3's. The ports are just way better. With flow test, new valves/springs, decked and primered:$550-650 depending on what valves/springs you want.

The best set of heads would be a set of GM heads on top of a GM block, then you could just use your motor for what it is best for... an anchor at your favorite cove.

Mister, you also have to remember, that if there were not so many Chevys, there would be so many less targets to beat up on. Plus, wouldnt you rather slap around a Chevy then a Mopar or another Ford?
