I have a mechanical secondary 600 or 650 (don't know) holley that worked great on my 455 and I would like to use it on my 460. All we do is cruise and water ski. Will it be enough or am I taking a chance on runnig it to lean??
Thanks again.

Well since the ford has a bigger bore then the 455 and probably flows more, I would go bigger. I have an 850 on a 472 ford that is 8.3 to 1 motor with a flat tappet cam, and it loves it. I would think a 750 or 800 would be a better choice.

the holley will be fine. I ran a 650 holley up until a couple months ago. It spun my 460 5400 rpm all day long. BTW running a smaller carb will make an engine run fat not lean. lean is the result of over carbing an engine.

Yep, thats right. The added CFM from a bigger carb has the potential of leaning out you engine if not jetted properly. I'm running a 600 holley on my 460 with no issues.

with out the specs on the motor its hard to guess . my stock 460 in my spectra came with a 850 dp and it was fine . i would go wiht some thing a bit bigger than the 600 or 650 it seems a bit small. but hey what do i know;) ( i had a 650 on my 302 in my mustang );)

If the wife gives me a pass from the honey doos I will try this weekend (yes, the balls are in her purse). But, I have spent the last few weekends with the boat. The kids are beginning to ask where papa is. This is madness, but I really like to play jet boats.
to be continued.....

HEY GUYS NEW TO THE SIGHT. ... THE CARB WILL WORK FINE IF ITS SET UP RIGHT... ONLY THING IS IT WILL LIMIT THE AMOUNT OF POWER THE MOTOR MAKES.
