I JUST BOUGHT A NEW 26' ELIMINATOR DAYTONA. WE ONLY HAD A CHANCE TO RUN IT LAST WEEKEND AND I WOULD LIKE TO SET IT UP FOR TOP SPEED. IT HAS A PAUL PFAFF 600HP EFI AND A IMCO DRIVE. I DO NOT KNOW THE RATIO. THE PROP IS A 26 PITCH MERCURY. IT LOOKS LIKE THE BOAT IS ONLY TURNING ABOUT 5300RPM. PAUL PFAFF SAID TO TURN THE MOTOR ABOUT 5500 FOR MAX POWER. WE WERE RUNNING 83 TO 84 ON THE GPS SPEEDO. IS THIS ALL I CAN GET OR IS THERE MORE LEFT. I SURE WOULD LIKE TO SEE THE 90MPH RANGE. IS THIS POSSIBLE? THANKS AHEAD FOR ANY HELP.

90 might be attainable but don't get your hopes too high... My 26 DCB with a Teague 620 did 92mph but I think your boat is a bit heavier... If you are running 5300 RPM with the set up you have now then you may not get anything by going with a bigger prop.... RE: RPMS where is the peak HP at on that motor?? also you may want to ask Eliminator where they put your X dimension.... if it wasn't set for high speed you may want a 1" or 2" shorter lower unit... good luck:D

PFAFF SAID PEAK HP AT 5500RPM. CAN I MEASURE FOR THE X DIMENSION? IT SEEMS ELIMINATOR DOES NOT WANT TO TALK MUCH.

Maybe IMCO.......or another shop will loan you a 1" shorter or 2" shorter case to see what happens. You probably want to do some prop swapping too if possible. 5 blade, labbed, etc. is what I have read on the boards here.

Used to run a Mach 26 with a Whippled 502 EFI putting out right around 600Hp...got it up to 90 at about 5000 RPM's spinning a non labbed 30' bravo 1...
It's hard to believe with 600HP you are not hitting the Rev limiter with a 26" prop...Something needs to be checked in the drive height, trim and or prop....You should be able to spin a bigger prop..or hit the limiter with that 26..

Remember, if you get it dialed in for max rpm now, when the weather cools, you'll be banging off the rev limter if you don't prop up! A bunch of us went out the other week and nobody could spin max with the good props. Heavy air and heat kill power. Wait for the Parade of Lights :)

Rev limiters, what's that? :D

I would think with that horsepower and the RPM's you could go with a 28 pitch prop.

Did they Dyno the motors?? If so where do they make peak torque? Peak Horsepower?

It's hard to believe with 600HP you are not hitting the Rev limiter with a 26" prop.....
My guess is that it has a 1.36 gear or eqv.

i thank all of you for your help and comments. the boat comes out of the stereo shop today or friday morning. we will try to max it out this weekend with a small fuel load and ill report back on exact rpm and mph. then ill be ready to try whatever it takes. i sent the computer back to paul pfaff this week to see if he could do a little more tweeking. it seemed to have a little hesitation on acceleration. he also said he could lean out the idle to clean up the back of the transem. thanks again and ill report back.

Your X dimension is probably way too low I put a 2" shorter lower unit on mine and it lowered my slip at least 3% that would probably get you real close to 90 mph you need too see where your prop shaft is at now compared to the lowest part of the boat and you need to find out your ratio in the drive then you will be able to make better decisions on what to try

You will want to have the propshaft even with the lowest part of the outside sponsons. Friend is San Antonio last year gained 13mph 90-103 from going 2" below to even.
I gained at least 5mph when I went from 1.5" below to 1/2 above. I have not let it air out yet to see where top end is now.
