Starting my motor project for the daytona I am going with a 540 Dart pro block 4.250 stroke.
I need a good oil pan I was thinking at least 12 qrts!
Any ideas anyone? Which ones are good for the money?
How is dooley?
Thanks :)

I would look into a few other pans if you're considering a resourcefull type of build. Try Dan Olson Pans, Stefs Pans, and even some of the stuff Billet Fabrication has to offer. Or better yet...call up Rex Marine and they will be able to assist you in some of the Dooley stuff they offer. Just make sure you get two Rex stickers with your order.:D:D

I went with the gil marine witch I belive they don't make anymore. But Harden Marine makes a identical pan. Talk to Fred @ Trick marine. 843-921-4552. He sold me a used Gil pan for alot less than a new one. If it has to be new i'd get a Harden. These pans have a very complex windage system and are powder coated inside and out. If your buying a new one contact Al Sr. at Fonse performance. Great guy, good prices and very knowledgable. This guy is a encyclepedia of engine know how. Good luck. :)

The Dooley is a decent pan.
Chris from Stefs sent me one of their offshore pans. It is a beast. I have never seen a pan built so tough. Definately the last one you would ever need to buy.
I took a bunch of pictures and will post them soon.

do you think that the 10 quart dooley will fit in the bilge of my 21' daytona tunnel
Sent dooley a e-mail no reply yet :(

Hopefully Flat Broke will chime in here. I think hes got a 14 qt on his 498 and because of the stroke and probably the angle that his boat sits at, he will only be able to use 8 qts...

A 10 quart Dooley is stock pan depth just full length of the engine. So you can judge it by that.
