I have a stock 454 with a edelbrock high rise intake a 850 holley mechanical hei electronic coil. I'm currently running at 5100 rpm at around 63 mph o'yeah berkley with ride plate, place diverter, drop snout, and b impeller. My question is if i change the stock rods to a set of 3/8" and change the rockers to aluminum roller type what would be the benifits on my almost stock motor. This is a 19.5' centurion hull.

generally there is no benefit from roller rockers on a stock motor untill you modify it to run in the 6000 and up range. However most quality rollers have true 1.73 ratios that results in higher lifts than stock stamped rockers.Save your money for other mods.BBC LS-6's run up to 7000 with their stock long slot rockers.

hey rick, contact tom at jet boat performance,805-466-4719, i maybe mistaken, but i think that the "B" impeller may be a bit much for a stock 454. i am getting a 454 built mildly and i was recommened to run only an "A" impeller. but tom really knows his stuff, I'm sure he could direct you in the right direction.

Roller rockers give you the benefit of lower oil temperature and reduced friction due to the needle bearing fulcrum in the rocker body. If you add a high duration\lift cam the roller rocker will give you increased rpm potential as well.

Heya Liquid,
Sounds like a pretty healthy cam, Do you have the appropriate spring set-up? Roller rockers are never a bad idea, if the funds are in place. I don't understand the rod question though? Are you wanting to swap your connecting rods for 3/8's? Are the ones you have now 7/16ths? If so DON'T change them, and if you want to change them, I'll swap you a set of 3/8's. The big ones are much better, stronger, far more spendy etc.
My two cents,
Skeep
