We used to own a Cal Spas onced upon a time. It was a nice spa, portable anyway. We got it in the pebbly finish, and I'd recommend that over the smooth finish, doesn't seem to get messed up or bubble as easily.
As for Cal Spas customer service...They suck, so I would never buy another thing from them.
The LA County Fair is coming to a slum near you soon and has great deals on this type of home improvement. You can shop many different brands and drink beer at the same time, shopping at it's best.

This may sound trailer trashy, but we bought a used one. It is a 2 1/2 year old Jacuzzi. I doesn't have 42 gazillion jets, but has enough to keep me and my family happy. We bought it from an elderly couple that was retired and didn't use it anymore. We got it for $2500 and had it delivered for $250. It has the pebble finish, a waterfall, seats 8 supposedly (4 perfectly, 6 a little squished), has 32 jets with most being adjustable, 2 pumps, and ozone. Used is just an option and I know there's trash out there, but the new ones that were just like that (except with a few more jets) were $6,000 and up.

We just had our new spa delivered to LHC from LA Spas. 116 jets and measures 133" X 96". Our price, set in place was around 8k.

I've been looking for a decent and used Hot Springs Grande model for about 8 months now. Buying brand new is not worth it to me for Havasu. :)

Well we just went through this very senario a month ago...We ended up with Caldera Spa.
Go to Hot tub forums (http://www.whatsthebesthottub.com) and read and ask around in the forums section.
We had a hard time deciding between Caldera and one other...;chose Caldera for its stellar repair reputation, 0% finance option and ammenities and overall fit/feel.
Biggest tip I can give you is to take your swimsuit with you shopping and try 'em all in the store til you find the one you like best.
(BTW-Caldera/HotSprings same maker) ;)
