What was going on in the Stockton Channel this last weekend? Looked like a poker run as I was heading in the wrong direction with about 20 large offshore boats headed my way. Lots of nice hardware. Glad I left my wife at home this weekend. She would have hated the rough ride.

Sorry, didn't have my camera with me. I didn't see that many cats though. Most were v-hulls. Sure was cool seeing all that power screaming by though.

if you only saw V-bottoms you must have only seen the tail end of the run.
The cats usually leave first but this run wasnt as organized as years past.
there were approx 110 boats. It was a great time and fast run. On the first leg of the run I was running just about 100mph and must have been the slowest boat there. cause it was like being freight trained on the race track. Being in a 26 cat and getting past by 40-50 36ft plus boats was a real experience. It created a sea like condition and made it a real drivers day. Felt sorry for the 5 passengers on board but they just kept high fivin eachother so I picked up the pace for a bit.
Must have been a sight to see in the channel.
would love to see any photos of the run.

Racer52,
Thought that was you that we passed coming out of Stockton on the way to the lunch stop in our 30 Spectre(met you in Havasu at the sandbar@ the heatwave Pokerrun).
The Pokerrun was a blast, it was a little scary watching some of the boat drivers slamming the drinks down at the stops
Made me a little nervous.
As for the tow home ours was 14 hours (that includes a 20 minute stop to change a flat on the trailer  )still closer than Havasu.
Here's a link to the photos taken by the yellow piper http://www.digiproofs.com/AerialExpressions/
Still not sure exactly where we went, just kept following all the big cats rooster tails, seems like you could spend years learning all the channels in the Delta.

Great to meet you guys too, didn't see the pool but Steve called about 4.30 today and told me about it, hope they catch whoever we don't need the bad rap. Thanks for the link to the pic's just ordered mine. Can't wait for the SCOPE run the end of this month, little changes to the motors for that run will be FUN. Are you guys going to be out for the POPRA race this weekend???

There are definitely going to be some SCOPE people out for the races this weekend, stop by and say hi. I'm not sure if I'll be out or not, but I should have it figured out within the next day or two....

The delta was great. It was my second time there and it was a lot of fun. I couldn't imagine boating around there without a GPS, but I guess that you figure your way around eventually. We met a bunch of people in Discovery Bay and they were really friendly. I'll be back next year..

TIMEWARP=yes I thought that boat looked familuar, you probably seen me when we were either going back to tow our buddy in or while we were towing them. After the stockton stop we were about a half hour behind tyhe whole group. but luckily I grew up on the delta and had no problem making the rest of the trip.
MOBRIEN=yep I was surprised I didnt see you guys there. Since its our closest big event.
Keep you eyes peeled on the boards cause we might be planning another
Shasta CAt Attack later this year. Sept. maybe. last year was a great turn out.

Here are a few pics, more are posted in the image center. They're not very good quality because I had to use a disposable camera, but you can get the idea..

Racer52,
I saw a cat towing a small v-bottom with an outboard on the way back home on Saturday in the channel. It was a pretty low freeboard boat being towed. Was that you? I can't remember what the cat looked like. We waved as we went by. :D

yep that was me, I do remember seeing your boat if its the one in your avatar. Cause my buddy used to have a baja with the same colors.
The boat I was towing is a LAvey with a 300. He broke a simple bleed line fitting. So it wasnt repairable on the water. Very low freeboard, he couldnt get on plane under the hwy 5 bridge and almost sank it due to all the boats taking off under there. Pretty crazy, my buddy was there also in a 21 daytona o/b and he submerged the boat twice under the bridge there.
I think for a big poker run you need atleast a 26ft boat.

Yep. That was me. I remember thinking as I was going by "Man, I would not want to be in that low of a freeboard boat dead in the channel." My last boat was a 20' Sleekcraft which was the same way. It was fast, but I took a lot of water over the sides. Added a couple of kids to the family and decided it was time for something a little safer.
