I have an XR4 150,and the speedo pick up is plugged.I think it's the hole at the lower front of gear case ?? Do I have to take the lower unit off again,
(I just changed the impeller this season, but forgot my speedo was erratic)
or can i run a drill or something carefully through it ????

Sometimes those can be a real bear to clean. It's really bad if the piece of debris is wood.
I have a gear case that I have tried and tried to clear out but there's just no way. I've been using a long piece of steel wire to poke away at it but there's just no way. We've tried numbered drills, air, wire, etc.

How about going the other way... blow air through from the other side.

I tried using air pressure in both directions,it wouldn't work.
And I think it is wood stuck in there
I'll try a small drill bit by hand...

If you get pissed enough go and get a handheld GPS with a dash mount kit  Don't forget once you finally get it cleaned out it will happen again.

Right.
For some reason, I've had better luck with transom mounted pitots. I've only had one plug and when that happened, I tossed it and mounted a new one.
