Looking at running small block with higher compression 10:3. Can I get away with it using 92 octane or less? I have been told that 10:5 is max (and even as high as 11:1), and told and told other ratios as well. Will have good flowing heads - trick flow as well as a good crank and MSD ignition Help.............. (please)

I'm running 10.8:1 with aluminum heads and ceramic coatings. Never had even a hint of detonation with 36 deg of timing on 91 oct, but I do run it cold. I've even run 87 in it up at Powell, but the extra altitude reduces the octane requirement. It has a knock sensor that will pull timing in case it ever gets in trouble.

Will be running in the great lakes. Have two choices 10:5 or 10:3 or just stay lower ?, And will be at the bar one day and only able to get 89 oct
