The one time (out of our 2 or 3 trips to Havasu a year) we waited in line for 45 minutes to get one of these burgers and they were out of propane. We were hungry and irritable to start with, but by the end of waiting for 45 minutes before we gave them the blow off, we were all crabby and I was hurling obscenities at them as I putzed on by. :argue:
I will try them another trip, I'm sure. Based on all the reviews, I guess I will have to see what the rage is all about. :)

PHX ATC: I tried them the same day that you did probably, it was the RRX
regatta and the Billy Burger deal was being worked by 2 10 year old boys that
didn't have a clue and a woman that looked like she was 10 miles away and a
guy who was sitting at the front of the boat and never did a thing except
stare off into space. They were out of propane and after someone with a
boat (customer) helped them change the propane tank, someone on another
boat had to loan them a lighter to get it started. We waited with LSR for
about an hour and finally got our burgers and they were very good. I think
the secret is the liquid that they pour on top of the hot coals to put a taste
into the meat. That's the only time that I've tried them but I suppose I'll
go back as long as they're not too slow.

The wait was worth it that day wasn't it Keith. I can't remember if we asked what the sauce was or not, I know we thought about it. But in the end we where just happy to get our burgers.

Keith - it was exactly that day. I didn't have the patience (imagine that :D ) that day. I will swing by in October when we are up there.
Say, you wouldn't be free for dinner one night, would you? :D

Billy Burger's (http://www.riverratlife.com/forums/board/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=2;t=000089)
Nothing has changed except the owners. The day they had the problems was hell for them too. Dad off on business, they wife takes out the kids to brave the crowds and to top it of run out of propane.
Give them a little slack, would your wife take that rig out with the kids and do business without you?
FYI NO changes have been made from the original owner to the new owners. Billy was over my house the day he was handing over the new business to Mark and Leslie.

Lone Star Rage: Yes, they were some of the best burgers I've ever ate!
What I didn't fess up to YOU was that there was another one waiting for
me over at RRX's boat and I ate it too!
PhxATC--you bet! let us know when you're coming to town. At risk of
hijacking this thread which is not my intention--my step son who is in Qatar
and flies in and out of Baghdad regularly brought his girlfriend out 2 weeks ago who is an Air Force Air Traffic Controller--I've got all the dirt on you

Anyone know the "secret" to the billy burger sauce they spray on from the bottle? I NEED to know so that I can make them at home on the grille by the pool.
My guess is some sort of soy sauce, garlic, heart attack inducing concoction that is to die for. They are SALTY! But just what you need out on the water on a hot day.
Those burgers ROCK!
