RPM question

I have a 455 olds in my tahiti and was curious to know what RPM any of you 455 owners run?? I had it up to about 4500 last weekend and it felt pretty good.

i have a 455 in my 74 tahiti 18. 4500 RPM sounds about right. a little mild porting to the heads and i got up to 4700. (was at 4300-4400)

Thanks for the info...I wanted 5k bad...but i was afraid of the aftermath.

I make 5000, but with a "B" cut impeller and loader. Shouldnt the rpms be higher with the smaller impeller? Just had the motor built and I expected more rpms.

5000 on a B is around 340 horse. I know, we always expect more. :D
I'm only getting 4600...
