We decided to run out there and enjoy the sunset and kick back ner a fire at night. Great place to relax, hike and in winter months take the toys out.
We went out with our neighbors who picked up a little RV and wanted to test it out.
Here are a couple pictures

Our same winter desert type of thing. Looks like you're in the campground the State put in by the entrance, its very nice there. We have a used class A that we bought just for the Cali desert, love it.

I agree. I don't even think about setting foot in the desert till at least the end of October. Even then it still can be warm.

My bike gets put away at the last GP in May. Then it's 6+ mos of heat. Maybe the Ridgecrest GP in Oct. Our first trip is often 1 week at Glamis in Oct, then the Dez most weekends. Red Rock, Dove and Jawbone is most often. We need to setup a dez weekend for HBer's this winter.

That would be great if we could get a few (or more) of us out to the desert this season. Lets try to make it happen.. we have never been to Jawborne, Dove, or Red Rock but would love to check it out... we just stick to the usual Ocotillo & Glamis for our trips...

It is very hot during the day right now, we just cruised up for the sun set and and to enjoy the night. It is a 50 minute drive no big deal, once the cooler times hit we go one more exit and camp at Dove Springs.
We will be there for Thanksgiving :D

there's quite a few of us here on the boards that are kicking around the idea of at least one(if not more) dirt trips this winter. glad a good time was had at redrock. i've driven past there on the way up north many times and thought about how cool that place looks. stopped and peed there once but din't start riding until me and the wife got quads late last season. now all we need is an rv but getting a house pretty much kills that notion. i think dumont(never been there either)is the place that is tenatively due for a visit from the peeps from various "boat boards" -jas

It is a fun place, when going there to ride I prefer Dove Springs over Red Rock, you have to leave Red Rock to actually ride.
But the scenery at Red Rock is great.

I noticed off road vehicles or anything regarding off road was not mentioned when I checked out the website for Red Rock... that explains it! So is Dove a large area for riding?
I think it would be great to meet out at the desert this season... unless it is a holiday (those are already planned for Ocotillo), we would go anytime. Always up to trying new places...

You can have off-road vehicles in Red Rock, just no trail riding in the park. You can take a wash right to Dove springs, Ca. City, etc.
