This was a blown injected flat that was out running around..Someone said he may have ended up putting the thing on the rocks up river?

Another V-drive, didnt see it run much, but it sure was clean.

Another nice one, the owner said he said he wont race jet boats anymore..Thought that was pretty funny.
http://www.***boat.com/image_center/data/520/409IMGP0061.JPG
Couple nice Cp's,I was told the blue one had a small block in it .. Not sure, but it was a neat boat. The gold one didnt have such a good day on Sunday, he blew a real good size hole in the transom and nearly sunk the boat.Squirtcha in the background.

Here is something you dont see everyday in a jetboat. This guy was an engineer and designs small turbine engines, to say the least, he knew his sh*t when it came to these motors, guy said he gets 4 hours of run time and hes out of fuel, and those are some big ass fuel tanks in there.Anyways it was pretty cool to see it take off and get on plane,he mad a pass by us at 53 mph.
http://www.***boat.com/image_center/data/520/409IMGP0090.JPG
This is that Gullwing that was for sale a few weeks ago, its got a nice DNE engine and MPD rigged the boat and did the jet, he's apparently talking with Billy B. and hes gonna do a new paint job and get a little more power out of it for next summer..Cant wait to see it all finished.Nice meeting you guys, and Ill give you a call first if I get a wild hair and decide to sell my boat.
http://www.***boat.com/image_center/data/520/409IMGP0091.JPG
Heres the hole the guy has in his cp. It has a blue tarp draped over the back, but you get the idea, thats the transom your looking at..The boat was severly delaminated all over, which is why it happened.

Mike you didn't blow up the spot, you just put your foot in my ass to hurry up and ask her. I was so nervous that it was just what i needed.
Anyways, Jessa did say yes and that made the whole trip worthwhile. I did get to make one speed pass with the new motor and new pump afterwards before the distributor gear let go. It felt like a whole new boat and the holeshot is a monster now.
Thanks Rivertard for the tow!
Thanks Chris and Tyson for the great ride back from the sandbar. It was an awesome weekend and I can't wait for next year. I met so many new people and old friends that i cant name them all here but thanks for making it a great weekend.

You'll like Big River. In October, the river will be smooth and fast. The beach has grass (a LOT better than sand or rocks!) and is flat friendly. Looks kind of like the pictures of a few reservoirs up north (except for those TREE things).
So let's all join hands and....... screw that! Less than 2 months left to avoid getting the Asshanders Award!

The first FC was smaller and easier to meet people. You could actually focus on a conversation. However, it's already growing considerably and looking like it'll be bigger than the first FC.
Thanks to the internet it seems as though the whole classic boat scene is growing to be even larger than it was in the 60's, 70's and 80's during it's hayday. If nothing else, certainly more organized.

Its all about the shock factor and the other person thinking "what the hell is in that thing?" if you get beat by someone with a blower, you know it is cause they had a blower.

Also what kinds speed do you think you get out of it and what impeller and at what rpm fully hooked up? Any idea of how much power it makes? Thanks.

After breaking a bronze b-cut impeller, i switched to a stainless A-cut impeller and added an inducer. Also added more power. Holeshot is much better now and she's pullin' harder than ever. .

less boost, more displacement. engine is now building right around 1,000 hp at 5psi.

Its a sick world we live in :) I can remember when I thought "holy $hit, he's got 735hp in that thing!!!", Now I have more than that, and you're throwin out 1000hp like its no big thing. Its nice that the HP has become more obtainable, even cheaper to get it; but it sucks from the standpoint that keeping up with the Joneses is getting tougher and tougher :D

can we just get rid of the jones'es? :D
actually, i dig that you guys are able to achieve the HP goals that you are. i see so many boats that are seemingly family type cruisers that flat out haul ars. not to mention the racing style boats that are putting out incredible numbers. and of course speeds. if you look back and find the numbers that were achieved in the seventies, most of you guiys would be world record holders. same hulls, just newwer technology and designs. before long it will be a common thing to see most any lake boat reaching 80+ MPH. WooooHooooo, this should be fun.

Mike,
You guys are welcome to a ride anytime. Personally I don't think she rides "that" good. The boat takes a lot of driver effort there to keep things smooth. When Jessa mentioned about getting beat up in the other boat, I figgured I should do my best to keep it smooth :) You realy have to attack chop head on or the stuff will hit further aft of the entry on the hull and bang the crap out of you. Needless to say Wakeboard boat rollers from the side present a bit of a problem.
I'll be excited to see what she does on the GPS as I have some specific goals in mind, and some hardware yet to add/change/try in the pump department. I definitely wasn't complaining about keeping up with the Joneses as we all seem to benefit from our mutual and relative quest for better performance.

We bought the boat new from Bill Scotten (CP). Turbo new this season. Paul Pfaff built the short block. Andy Holeman, Perforance One Custom Marine Engines did the turbo set-up. Not dynoed yet, so hp uncertain. Still getting it dialed in. Fastest we have had it was 109 GPS at 6600 rpms. Using an A impeller. Feels like there is still more to go. It's a fun ride, thanks...Jim

Jim,thats a good runnin' river racer you got there.Whats it like having turbos on it? Do you really feel the lag,or does it hit hard like a carburated boat? Im totally unfamiliar with turbos and especially in a jet boat.
Another question for you,did the boat come complete from Bill w/ no motor or?

We bought the boat from Bill with a 461, nice ski boat. A few hundred hours later, we had Bill build another motor about 650 hp, nice and very reliable. Had an opportunity to pick up the twin turbo last Feb. It was a fresh motor. Thought the motor swap would be an easy one, but it was not. Like you, I was not totally familiar with Turbo's. Got lots of advice from Jim Wilkes and Andy Holeman. Everything had to be boost referenced. Yes, there is a little lag, but when the motor goes into boost, it's like a sling-shot. It's nice to have all the power without all the noise! Jim

How was pyramid lake? I have hear alot about it, but never been. Is there alot of Police? and lake lice?
The prop is still being retuned, should be done Tuesday. I am thinking of having it shaved down even more for more low end, but dont know if I want to sacrifice high end, I might get some different gears soon. The top of the boat is all apart hooking up the n20 lots of decisions and money have went in to it really quick. We got a new fuel pump and are thinking of running two regulators and three gauges, we shall see... 125? 150? 175? 200? its all about the tuning.

Don,
We had never been to Pyramid..
I asked while paying how many Lake Lice were allowed on and apparently it is limited to 66.
Don't ask me how many boats they limit it to.
It is MUCH bigger than Green Smellsinore. Water was nice, Plenty of coves that you can duck into for clean water. Wind picked up early but we had fun on the beach. Definately have to go back again.. Unlike Elsinore, they only charged $14 to launch. Unlike Elsinore, they did not charge additional for more than two people.
But, oh wait... It completly sucked, no one should go there. jk..

It was a Heritage impeller which if i'm not mistaken is a copy of a Legend. Basically it broke because i had it repared once when it ate up some rocks and then the following season I added 200 hp to the motor which proved to be too much.
I hit a roller at about 80 mph and the boat pump unloaded while i still had my foot on the gas. I think once the pump re-loaded the impeller couldnt take the shock and that's when it broke. put a few nice quarter size holes in it and cracks too.

trust me when i say it still rides better than mine. I have to aim straight for rollers and put the diverter all the way down or the chop hits behind the front seats, past the hull entry and its rough. The only way to make it ride better is to put the ride plate down from 4-drees to zero. You've got one great boat there my friend.

So since I have learned a BIG lesson in the use of a rev limiter, does anyone have a 454 block laying around that they may not want? I found out that not only did I hit the valve against the piston, I have a long crack in the cylinder wall. If only I knew how high it revved. :hammer2:

Hey brooski,if your not building a killer engine put a sleeve in it.It will be ok as long as the crack is not into the register potion of the block. You would be fine with a 500hp or so engine and the sleeves are cheaper then a used block as well.Have the block sonic checked and go from there...Tim

Brooski
08-24-2004, 04:52 PM
He mentioned doing that, I was just being cheap and hoping I could get a block real cheap. When its done I should be between 400-450hp. Thanks for the input. Im hoping it can be done by Sept 10, trip planned to Naci. It better be done by FBC2. Need to show off (and consume lots)

That would be the way to go i.m.o..The blocks are getting harder to find and more $$$.Just sleeve it and get it running. You might find a block for cheap but it might not be ant good.Have seen alot of them getting tossed after getting sonic checked but that is for the higher H.P. engines.I might have one in a few days.I will let you know by the weekend if you want it?Needs to be bored to .060 but that would work for ya.i will call you on sat......Tim

Brooski,
If you check with your local dismantler they can go on a hot line and find one anywhere in the US and Mexico and even Canada. Remember Aluminum Blocks have sleaves in them. I think they run 500hp - 8000hp if I remember corectly.

It has been running great. Found out that my fuel pump is not up to the task for my boat. Most likely too old of a mechanical. Have seen virtually 0 psi at WOT.
I am curious as to what kind of gear you had on your distributor? It would seem to me that something else would have caused it's failure. Maybe the oil pump?
