I'm trying to strip the old color off my intake and pump and am having a hell of a time. I'm not sure what was put on it but that stuff is on there good!
I tryed sanding with 60 but it's very very very slow. I hooked a wire brush wheel to my air grinder and the process is alittle bit quicker but not by much. Under the white seams to be a greenish color. I'm thinking i should just take the bowl and transom adapter to a powder coating shop and have them strip and coat it and i'll just work my ass off on the intake...
Any of you guys done this before? Any special stripper's that will make the job alittle faster?

I sand blasted all of my stuff. Worked very well.

Most powder coat shops I've dealt with also have the capability to sand blast too.

Vapor Blast will have it down to clean bare metal in no time, you won't need to run a tap in to clean out all the threads, and it won't erode any metal.

I used the autozone metal paint stripper.
The stuff worked great. Left the green hard anodizing alone.

I sandblasted mine. Cost is cheap to do and it comes out great. Before you paint it make sure you spray it with some etching primer. Comes in a can. that is what the green stuff on the pump is anyway. The factory anodizez them with the stuff but it can be expensive. Etching primer is the same aluminum protectant. You can buy it at your local paint store for around $7.00 a can.

If there are any special strippers around while I am working on the boat it takes longer. Especially when they start dancing around...

i used jasco paint stripper let it sit a few minutes then hit it with a preasure washer.. knocked it all down to green in just a few minutes. another coat would remove all the green coating to.. but i stopped there. YOu can get jasco at home depot.. aircraft stripper is a little stronger and I think you can get it at walmart in there little auto section with touch up paints.

Aircraft Stripper worked like a charm. I slapped some on, let it sit for about 20-30min wipped it off and hit it with a wire brush and sandpaper. It just peeled away. Infact a gasket scaper would have probably worked better since the sand paper kept getting clogged up.
Also, dont let it trick you, when i first removed the stripper i was looking at it like man, this shit didnt work, but as soon as i touched it, it started to fall apart.
Thanks guys.
