I am considering the purchase of a Holley dual carb tunnel ram. Does anyone know what type of mods I would need to do to make it work on my jetboat? Here's a pic of my current setup -->> http://www.dpgdigital.com/mytoys/j4.jpg
Thanks!

You will have to change your fuel lines some depending on which carbs you run and set up the linkage. Your cable will work but it will depend on how your carbs are setup what kind of linkage you will need. You can check out my TR setup on the 26th and I will help you out with any info I have gathered. I have been playing with mine for 3 years and still feel I have some gains to be made.

Are those the famous "speed leaves" I've been reading about? Will I go faster if I get some in th HH tugboat?

I am NOT a big fan of the tunnel ram system. My boat had a TR with two Holley 600's on it, and ran like crap. I rebuilt both carbs, still terrible. I had mega troubles with linkages and everything else trying to make it work. Finally, installed Single Plane intake and 750 Holley. Now, no idling troubles, starts easier, and more importantly, uses alot less fuel. Just my opinion.

I wonder if a marine rebuilt on my current carb would be just fine? It might not be compatible with my 'speed leaves' though!

I went out with a couple of V-drives last week. One had tunnel ram and dual 600's the other had a single plane intake and Holley 750. The 750 kicked butt on the TR(in fact we ended up towing him to the dock)Anyway I think the point is unless your some kind of pro super tuner stick with the simpler system. you will have more consistant performance. It apears that you have BBC with a torker intake? That carb looks kind of dinky, what is it?A Holley 750 double pumper is my tried and true carb of choice. http://free.***boat.net/ubb/biggrin.gif

Fastdave I have to agree with you that it hard to beat the look of a polished tunnel ram, dual carbs and a scoop. But to make the conversion work it takes a little bit of time and expense.
You will need:
Tunnel ram (must be polished)
Matched set of carbs (must 750, 6109)
Linkage
Regulator
Fuel lines
Dooley Scoop
custom-cruiser your right about a single carb set-up will and does beat a lot of dual carbs.

Nice to see a stock engine again! I'm going to go feed the mouse that runs my engine - I call her Holley.

p.s. Nice work!

Don't forget the camshaft and a little compression. I installed all the b.s.(tunnel ram, carbs, etc) without changing the cam on top of a stock 8:1 454, and I lost all the out of the hole performance. The top end gain wasn't worth what I lost on the launch. Went back to the Edelbrock RPM. Now I launch like a bitch in heat and use half the fuel.
Of course, when I get the new engine built to hold the BDS 8-71 that now sits on my workbench, the mileage will be a thing of the past!!!

LS7, I see your pictures were taken at Jack's, what did you have done?
Looks good!! Do you like running the thermostat kit?

No thermostadt kit here, I think you seeing the fuel hose going to the primary bowls, as there are two separate fuel feeds for primary and secondary.
Jack has done the work on my boat since 1977, the pump has all the MPD Magic, and Dave did the motor 2 years ago. Jack had done the motor in apprx 1980 and it never missed a beat.
The motor is 468ci, and as you can see on another thread it pushes this 2 million pound layup 90+ mph. NO NITROUS.
BTW--SLOWBOAT or whoever you are now I have a time slip that will knock your Hydro in the dirt. LOL

How much does that boat weigh?

Roughly 2 million pounds http://free.***boat.net/ubb/wink.gif. My 225# fat @ss can do jumping jacks on any part of the hull without flex.

Looks like a thermostat setup for your water-injected headers. Where did you get it?

The tee located in the middle of the motor is a Bassatt "T" valve that is part of the header water injection setup. Call Bassatt to get one.
Can you believe everything you see on that motor is from 1977, no rechrome anywhere.
The tunnell ram is recent we upgraded from an older style TR 2 years ago when Dave did the motor.

Oh now that hurts... DEFINITELY the wrong guy. It's kinda strange, when my pump was shipped back to me from... well, you know where from...there were no doughnuts in the crate, maybe you forgot to include them? LOL

I was just informed by the "Know It All" that Aggressor has made a new pump part called the "Donut Ring". Actually, if you read between the lines, he's right, if MPD is shipping out pumps with a donut, then were getting that Aggressor technology right in our pump. Man, and thought this guy didn't know what he was talking about.
