I found my money on Missingmoney.com. This is a no shitter. The state of NC owed me a couple of hundred from some old insurance policy I had years ago. I guess if you cancel a policy and have some money left on the policy they turn it over to the state. Had to prove who I was and get a form notarized but no cost otherwise. I punched in all my friends and family names to see if they had any outstanding. My sister notified me and so I gave her $40 for a referrral fee cause she's ok. I didn't believe it at first but no shit, I got a check.

I went there about 2 years ago and found about $35 from an old insurance contract. It was a major hassle to gather my proof that I lived at the address where the contract was signed and I would have needed my x-wifes assistance. Some things just aren't worth the effort.
My mom did get back a couple hundred from mortgage insurance.
