Buy a good house blender and get an inverter. 12 volt blender I bought, lasted 2 loads then died!! Just my .02

The Waring Blender at Overtons http://overtons.com/graphics/products/medium/30316M.jpg
The other one is junk and won't chop onions let alone ice.

My advice exactly.
I was going to put some kind of built in blender in the Revolution, but there is no good 12 volt one, 110v ones are cheap and basically disposable, and you aren't tying into your boat's electrical system in any permanent way.
So, we will be doing a kick ass inverter...

Uhhhhhhhh, shouldn't this be posted in the OUTBOARD section?

Sounds like using an inverter sounds like the best way to go..Is it best to get one and just plug into the cigarettle lighter or to run it from the battery??

You can run it from your lighter but just make sure you get an inverter w/ enough juice. The inverter should run around $150 bucks.

I would be wary of an inverter small enough to run on a cigarrette lighter.
Look for a 1K watter. It should be hard wired. Expect to pay the $150 or so.

It looks like all the Blenders that I am looking at tend to be 600watts. So how much would the inverter need to be? The full 600? This is the blender I was looking at on ebay.

I'd go for a bigger inverter...........who knows what you might want to use it for later.

My boat has the Waring blender built int it, and I'm surprised how well it works. Bring the mix, and you can try it out anytime!!. Really though, if you aren't going to run anything else off an inverter, why spend all the money and time wiring it, when the Waring 12V works as good as it does. No complaints on my margaritas yet.

Love my boat but my boat blender is pretty useless. Just kinda stirs the stuf together..............I don't understand what Froggy is talking about. An inverter for a "decent" blender, so you would have more power? :mix:

Most of the problems you have with blenders on a boat are caused by not giving it enough juice. Froggy is right, get a big inverter and hard wire it. Also, make sure it has a low voltage trip in case you get drunk and leave it on! 1K watts is good but 1800 or 2K would be better if you have multiple batteries.

I use an inverter. You can get them pretty cheap these days, I paid $70.00 for my 1000 watt - 2000 watt peak unit and have a little 400 watt for little things. You can get a 1200 watt - 2400 watt peak at Kragen for less than a hundred. We even let the inverter run Mister coffee when we use our RV without hookups and can't use the generator during quiet hours and also decorate our camping area at night with party lights that run off the inverter. A 1000 watt inverter should do everything you need for the most part and won't require extra gas to run it or leave everyone smelling like a weed whacka :p

I bought a 2k inverter from Rip Griffins truck stop off Lenwood in Barstow. On sale for $115. Even came with 2 gauge battery cables to wire it up... Kicks A$$...

Had a 12 volt waring blender (overtons, the best 12 vol blender) that didn't work too well when plugged into the cig lighter. The problem is the long run of only 16 gauge wire to the cig lighter, big voltage drop. I snipped off the lighter plug and soldered on some big aligator clips.
Now I hook up directly to the battery and it rocks.

This is easy. Go buy a yacht with a generator. You can plug in any blender you want. Oh Yeah.. Don't for get the air conditioning, Plazma TV, Head with shower, central vac, frig, stove.... I want my 370 Dancer back

I hate to go against the grain here, but lugging around a 110Volt home blender, putting an inverter in your boat etc.. etc.. At a cost of around 210 - 250 bucks total. (150 for the inverter, 60 - 100 for the blender etc.) By the time your all said and done with that you could spend a couple bucks more and just bought a daquiri whacker and atleast remained somewhat on the cool tip with the vroom vroom sounds..

Just my .02 though..
Incidentally you can find them cheaper at other places online, that's just 1st the website I came up with in my search. I think I've seen them for as low as 179.
Or I'll sell ya mine, for just a little bit more if your interested. ;)

I have to dial in the carb a little bit as it saw some pretty heavy usage last year, but I'll make sure it's good to go before delivery is taken.

I'm telling you, if cost is an issue, just go with the Waring 12V. You can't go wrong. They work very good. Look me up at the lake, and I will be glad to demo mine. Drinks on me.

Get the Coleman 1000 Watt inverter (I spent $90 on mine) and mount it on the sidewall (inside ) and hardwire. Spent another $45 on a decent blender and keep it a small gym bag and it easily stores in a cubby hole somewhere. Now for $135 you have a blender set up that is hidden takes up little room and will thump ice for your drinks!
You also have a couple of AC outlets in your boat for other shit if you need it. I keep a small vac on the boat that I plug into mine so I don't have to drag out mommas or the shop vac. That little thing is 1000 watts and does as good a job or better than the upright or the shop vac.

Sorry RD but you must be payin the wrong people! I have about $90 bucks total investment in mine. I paid $70.00 for the 1000 watt - 2000 watt peak use inverter from Costco and paid another $20.00 for the blender on sale. I had the cables and ends and I never need gas or oil to run the thing and it don't STINK and takes up very little space! How well does that one of yours stow away in the boat with the jug of gas?
