What's the deal when you buy an rv from out of state, do you have to pay sales tax? Is there any way around it, legally?
I'd hate to have to fork over 7.5 or whatever percent to uncle sam.
Give me some options!

yes but not legally ;).......
7.5.. why so low? ;).... (j/k I hate where I live 8.5%)
seriously though. you need to store it out of state for part of the year. If you get pulled over you need to talk really really fast.

I think you could do an out of state delivery?? Im not sure on this though. I am also buying a motorhome and was told that you could buy one here in california and do an Arizona delivery. It has to be in Arizona for 3 months though so you could leave it at one of the rv parks in Havasu, parker, Laughling etc. After that you could pick it up and travel with it. As long as you have it there for 6months you should be fine. At least that is what I was told. Let me know if you find out different or if anyone on the boards here could shed some light.

I think alot of it depends on what state you live in and what state you buy the RV in. I lived in Cally and bought a camper in Utah............no tax and no regesteration!!!!

Deano -
Your right on what needs to be done. My in-laws just bought a new one last year, and they could not have it delivered to our house in Havasu. They had to have it at an RV Park. They were instructed to go to the RV Park every few weeks, and buy food, beer, etc. to make it look like it was being used. Keep all reciepts as the sate of Cali is not fond of losing the tax revenue, so you will need the proof that the RV was indeed used out of state for at least 90 days.
