I have a friend who has about a $35K budget for a boat. He has an 18 footer now and wants something a little bigger. He would like a 23-24 footer, deep or semi-deep vee that has not been abused. Who has something like this for sale?
Just so you know he will be coming on here and checking the thread out. He doesn't post but will be looking...friggin' lurker :( Anyhow, just keep posting info/links and he will want to see what you got...
Thanks

He should consider WHippedCaliber's boat!!! Might cost him a couple of grand more, but hell, how many 23' v-bottom open bows run 90+????

He is kind of open. Key is that if he goes used it has to be a well maintained boat. He has a Galaxy now so I don't think he will be shopping based on a name brand. Wants the deeper v though so he can handle more rough stuff.

GreyGoose's Lavey might be the perfect boat for him actually. You CAN NOT go wrong with that HULL!!!

You know, for $35K you could really make that Schiada a kick ass boat and it's going to hold it's value long after the others aren't worth the resin they're built out of. ;)

You don't need a deep-v to get a smooth ride......You need a cat!! I can roll over 3-4' chop and never feel a thing in my 22. It's not for sale, but I would sell it for $32k :D

Is $584 for the year ($35K Greed Value) $$$$$$$ Big Money?? I really don't think so.
When you hear of these guys complain about high insurance cost it's on $60K - $250K boats !! Well hey ya that's gonna be expensive !! Did you think it would be cheap on a high dollar boat with sick motors and the ability to go 80-140mph !!! The Insurance companies aren't stupid  It's just like a car....Buy a $24K Truck and Ins. is cheap. Buy an Eighty Thousand Dollar Porche and the Ins. goes waaaay up. It's not a hard system to figure out.

I know I was looking at 25' Daytonas and 26' DCB's and checked 10 different companies that wouldn't touch them. These were with stock HP500 merc power. Nothing exotic and not a 100 mph boat. No dice. They were under $60K too.
My main point was that size for size and HP for HP the cat is going to cost you more money than the v, unless you somehow sneak it in or are a little less than forthcoming with the exact details and speeds. I know they're writing some killer cat policies in Nor Cal, but the same company won't touch anything So. Cal.
