Well Deb told me I was missed...LOL
Anyway, Just to let some of you know that there's more to life than our boats and this board. j/k.
Here's some pics of a little trip I took with my son and his Boy Scout troop this last week: I'll have to do this in several posts since the new rules won't allow me to do them all together.
8 days in the 20 lakes basin, Tuolomne Meadows area of Yosemite Nat'l Park. Here's our campground, on the shore of Greenstone Lake. The kids fished 3 of the lakes in the 20 lakes basin,

Our first day of hiking to the top of Puppy Dome. This is a miniature version of Half Dome that is Yosemite Valley, but gave us a great idea of what it is and how it was formed.

Another View of Puppy Dome, a Rouche Moutonnee formation (meaning a lamb in the meadow, because that's what they look like from a distance)

My son, Scott, found this tree with about 25 Bear clawings on it. This is a way for bears to mark thier territory boundries. Claw marks were on this tree from 4' high to 9' high. Glad we didn't meet any of them.

My son and I on Gaylor Peak overlooking Tuolomne Meadows and Tioga Pass on a hike to the Gaylor Lakes and the Great Sierra Mine. We're at about 11,000 feet here. Quite a climb, but well worth the view.

Over looking the Gaylor Lakes from the Great Sierra Mine. Most of our boys fished these lakes and some caught the most beautiful Golden Trout I've ever seen.

My son and I on top of Indian Rock overlooking Half Dome. This was one of the most spectacular view of Half Dome I've ever seen. It was like you could reach our and touch it. Very cool.

Scott and I at the Conness Glacier overlooking the Conness Lakes, a Patenoster Lake formation, or Cyclopian Steps, formed by retreating glacial activity. The lakes are spaced about 300 vertical feet from each other, thus the Cyclopian (cyclops) steps. At the lake the area is flat, but then we needed to climb about 300 feet to get to the next one. It was pretty cool to get to the top. This pic was taken at about 11,300 ft.

The whole trip logged about 40 miles and 9 days including travel days. Scott's Scoutmaster is a retired Geology Professor and was the supervising naturalist for the Yosemite Nat'l Park during the 60's. It was a great trip and I would recommend this to anyone.

C'mon Gramps, nothing happened to my baby...right?...
Actually when I pulled up to my house last night that's the first sight I had, of my lil baby in my driveway. And by the way, she looks great.
The fishing was good and the hiking was tough, but great. This is one of those trips Scott won't ever forget (I hope).
I'll be able to take him again in another two years and I can't wait.

Congratulations on getting away to a beautiful place with your son. Brings back memories of Yosemite, Yellowstone, Grand Tetons, and other beautiful places to camp.

The lowest Conness Glacier lake has some small Golden Trout in it, but the Glacial Silt is in higher and higher concentrations the further up the string of lakes you go, so they have no fist per se. There was a strange bird that was wading in the water and catching something, but remember the water is just above freezing since it's comming directly off of the Glacier. It was cool to watch the Osprey chasing the chipmonks and ground squirls too.

Thank you. I've got 3 kids, and though I spend most of my time with my son, I'd give them all as much time as they asked for. This gig is something I've wanted to do with him for a while, so I'm as excited about it as he is.

Awesome...I always forget how beautiful it is up there. Good to see you enjoying time with your kid. My dad used to take each one of us on our own trips when we were growing up. He would take me hiking or camping and he would take my sisters to a hotel with a pool and some shopping.
