Just watching the news and I sure don't remember the protesters getting this much coverage during the DNC convention. Maybe there weren't any protesters at the DNC convention. :hammerhea

I don't know why NBC feels they have to bring politics into the Olympics, not what the Olympics are about at all. They need their own news filter, just seems they are enjoying it for some reason. :2purples:

I did notice it in the Olympics but this was just the evening news. They devoted about the first 10 minutes of the newscast to the protesters.

People that vote Republican may not like the Democrats, but they are willing to allow them free speech. The Democrats have been cowtowing to the left wings freaks, who do not believe in free speech that opposes their point of view. If you look at the most flagrant violations of free speech, it is at the universities that are controlled by the liberals

This is just the beginning. We've got four more days & nights of the left-leaning networks working their agenda of bashing Bush.
With the anarchists doing everything they can to protest the convention and create bedlam in the streets, the liberal media (ABC, CBS, NBC, MSNBC, CNN, CNBC) will probably show a split-screen with the convention happenings on one side and the wackos in the streets on the other.
The TV coverage of the Republican convention isn't going to look anything like the coverage of their beloved Democrat's and their convention.

Why is it that the far lefties are so unhappy? Could it be that a pro gay, pro aboution, anti American, anti religion, lifestyle is not very satisfying ? And they have choose a lifstyle that makes them miserable, so they need to go out and spread the misery.

That's the truth, I have a friend whose daughter was given a C on a well written paper (yes I did read it) that the professor said something to the effect of "nicely written paper, unfortunately you really need to catch up to the times"... in other words you need a different (liberal) view to get a good grade in my class...

I noticed the same problem at my university. the lack of REAL diversity is sad. My university had many many activist liberal teachers.
Lucky for me I can be a big phoney too and "pretend" that I agree with them just to pull good grades.
Its fun shaking your head in agreement with some left wing teacher all the while calling them bad names in your head. :D

There were very few protesters (in the hundreds not hundreds of thousands) at the DNC. The majority of these protesters are anti-war demonstrators.
They have a right to protest. It's called the First Amendment.

I don't recall anyone saying they didn't have the right to protest. It is just the balance of coverage now versus the DNC convention. And isn't this such a typical liberal protest. Antiwar - freelove tiedye convention. I am sure after the convention they can all go over to Woodstock and relive old times.

There was coverage of the protesters in Boston. The fact that there were so few of them made it a story when in fact no story existed. I recall Hannity talking about it as well as Brown on CNN. Everyone was expecting and anticipated large number of protesters and they didn't materialize. If they don't show up it's not much of a news story...

they put the protestors at the DNC convention in a cage.
BTW the democrats are NOT AGAINST the war and they voted for the war but the anti-war folks protest the Republicans.
Boy, the Dems sure get a free pass from the demonstrators. They did not demonstrate during the Bosnia "war"

It's very simple to explain. There was no coverage of protesters at the DNC convention because once the convention began all the left wing wacko hippy commie socialists had to go inside and take their spots as delegates and vote for Kerry :D

It's like I told my wife, there were no protestors at the DNC because Kerry's non-supporters WORK for a living. We will get to see our welfare dollars at work at the RNC, it's such a great feeling to know that my tax dollars are supporting both the arresters and arrestees :boxingguy

And that has to be protected. The NYC government is supporting the rights of protesters to PEACEFULLY protest, sounds like they are being sensitive to expression of different views as long as it is peaceful and orderly.

Isn't that nice...it's ok to protest but only if you do so in a nice way....I agree with the idea of peaceful though. I hate it when protestors get out of hand and become obnoxioous and resort to name calling and insults! Reminds me of a few people on this forum! :D

I totally agree with that but even as a registered Republican Bush made the Olympics political by using the Afghanistan and Iraqi atheletes competing in Athens as part of his campaign ads. It would ahve been best to just stay away from that aspect of the war on terror IMHO.

Politics has been a part of the olympics since I was a kid....
1972 Terrorism
1980 Boycott
1984 Boycott
Unfortunately, it should not be a prt of it, but it is. Did you see the special on NBC durng the olympics about the Germans/Greeks/Boston Marathon last night. I found that to be very interesting. Hitler was such a coward.

As far as politics in the Olympics I feel it is best avoided at and during the games. However, public officials have always used hosting a successfull games as CV points when they campaign and I really see no problem with Bush using his role in getting those teams there in his adds.
P.S. Of course, I will never condone political interventions that hurt the games and the athletes (like Pres. Carter's moronic boycott in 1980, that backfired so badly on us)...
