Is Ford planning on changing the body style anytime soon?

They sure are. They are changing the body style to nothing. The Excursion has been discontinued as of 2004. Better buy one fast cause the new ones are going going gone.

What??? I thought they decided to keep the dang thing because the diesels were selling real well. Which is the reason I want one. Cause friggin Chevy won't put the Duramax in the Burb

The Excretion err Excursion will ultimately be replaced by a lengthened Expulsion err Expedition.

Like I said... The ONLY reason I'd buy one is to get the diesel. I have a 02 Z71 Burb that is a perfect SUV except for the lack of HP. It will not hold 70 - 75 in OD on Curise while towing a 23 foot boat. I know a HD Pickup will but that vehicle will not work in my family.

Will the cruise hold at say.... 75 to 80. Not that I would tow my boat at those speeds :D

Buy the way I did put the chip in it I have no speed limit(comp wise)and I put the cooled air box on the only thing I still have to do is the exhaust and that will make it even better,Mark

That would be false. I have read Ford has plans to continue building them through 2006. Beyond that I they did not say if it would definitely be around or not.

FORD did say they were going to discontinue the excursion but later reconsidered due to the increase in sales. They are continuing with the Excursions. As for the gay ass thunderbird, that's gone in 2005 or 2006!

Afew months back I was on the ford website and saw a pick of the "new excursion" the difference was shorter & only 2 doors. Sorta reminded me of the when ford used to build the full size broncos. Anyone else see this?

Sorry folks!! This is not a "Sandbar approved" topic. Please move this thread to the appropriate forum. I believe that would be "Tow Vehicle".

My sources tell me , No way is the duramax going in because it won't fit, and the excursion has been extended through 2005.

Ford may have caved to the pressures of the environmentalist,by not building the Excursion after 2004,but I would still take one over anything GM or Chevy builds.

the reason there is not a duramax burb is simple, it won't fit. The only way Chevy could get it to fit is to put the front end of the 2500 trucks on it. There are some people that will do a conversion, but I'd rather spend 40 or 50K on a new Excursion with a powerstroke and a warranty than 60K for a truck with no warranty that somebody peiced together out of older trucks. Just my .02. Chevy will not put the Duramax in, unless they completely redesign the burb, which in that case I could see one in 2006, that would be about time for them to change the body style anyway.

RiverOtter

Surely by 2006 they will be ready for a redesign.

I'm a chevy sub convert too. Got tired of putting on colorful face makeup, running in circles three times, touching the ground twice with flat palms and praying to the transmission gods above to allow a good pull.
I got an 03 4X4 V10 and have been very happy thus far. My bro traded in his 03 POS Sub and got the 04 diesel Excursion - it rocks.

Dammmm thats a big difference! My IDI 7.3 without overdrive or a turbo offers 17 hwy and only drops to 14 towing!

Well I went to buy and Excursion Diesel about three months ago and Five different Ford Dealerships told me that they couldn't find one with the options that I want and I couldn't order one because they weren't making them anymore.
My Silverado was pulling the 27 Dana to Havasu and back just fine but I was only getting 8mpg which is why I wanted the Diesel.
Since I couldn't get the Excursion, I just bought a house in Havasu instead and now I don't have to tow at all. Happy Ending.

You probably made the wisest decision of all. Let's see.... should I buy a depreciating asset or an appreciating asset?
