I took my boat to Eddies Marine Service for a yearly service I was quoted a price of $450-$500 for this service. I was given a est. in writing and then I get a phone call from Eddie and he tells me that I have water in the bellows and I need a new gimbal bearing. I asked for a price and stated he would have to call me back with a total. Eddie called me the next day with a total in the amount of $1689.96 I asked why so much he said I had $790.00 for the yearly service which was quoted @$500.00 on the high side. And the other $900.00 to change the u-joint bellows and install a new gimbal bearing.
I went ahead and had Eddie do the repairs which took longer then I would have thought the boat was at his shop for near two weeks. Went and picked up the boat as soon as he was completed with the repairs(morning) and took it up to the ramp at Bluewater Casino to go boating to find out the boat is taking on water never started the boat. Went back to Eddies Marine Service to question the repairs and he told me he didnt have time to look at the boat that it would be a couple of days I explianed that I just picked it not 20 minutes prior to that and that it would only be fair that he put a tech on it and make the repair good. Eddie then told to drop it and he would look at after lunch and he would call me as soon as he had a answer NOTE the boat never leaked water before it was worked on by Eddies Marine Service. He called around 2:00pm and told me he took it to the water and the transom was leaking not the bellows what he had repaired and that the boat needed a transom reseal. I explained the boat had no leaks prior to the repair and now it leaks. He said that the bellows where in fact damaged I asked for the old parts back and he returned them to me I told him that I would be taking the boat for the simple fact I was not going to dump anymore money into at this time. He said thats fine so I took the boat and the old parts to Doug @ Alco Marine in Lake Havasu I handed him the old parts and he went outside and asked me if they where for the boat I brought in to him I stated yes Doug told me that the parts I handed him were for a alfha and that I had a bravo drive Doug went into the shop brought out one of his techs with a light and started looking at the bellows and the transom and told me they were never changed they are factory. He then backed the boat into his test tank to check for leaks and saw that the ext. steering ram was leaking at the base he pulled off and resealed it and re checked for leaks and it was good. He charged me $200.00 and I was on my way I phoned Eddie and explianed what had happened and he contiued to say the parts where changed and that he must of handed me back the wrong parts. Any suggestions on this what should I do... Thanks for any help.
It seems he says he is going to do something but does not follow through with it I say Beware of Eddies Marine Service Has anyone else had a bad dealing with this company????

If you can prove that the bellows are in fact factory install and if the other service center will sign a doc to the fact that he feels in his professional opinion that they weren’t changed I would take that to Eddies and ask for a refund or court action will follow! This has worked for me on auto repair screw jobs!

If you paid by credit card, I would call them now & contest the charges to start.

I'd do a stop payment and tell him either make it right (the $$$$) or it's time for court.

That surprises me.........I have a new 25 tremor and boat on Parker. I have had two minor problems with it while I was down there. both times I towed it in to Eddie, the first problem I fixed but wanted a second option, but the second problem was an electrical issue that Mercruiser Tech's screwed up and within an hour the problem was fixed. Eddie couldn't have been a nicer guy. I have even recommended him to other's down there and they've had no complaints.

When I took my trailer hitch there to remove the ball and place it on another hitch that would work on my new truck, and they couldn't figure out how to get the ball off was all I needed to know....I don't want these guys working on my boat.
Just my $0.02

That place is a focking joke.I had a seal go out in my out drive and they wanted $900.00 to take the drive off and put a seal in the upper. They first told me it was just the lube line inside the bellows, then after they pull the drive off they tell me ,no its the seal and its 9 focking bills to fix it.Tols them no thanks and they still charged me 150 to take the drive off and do nothing.I put the drive in the back of my truck and took it to Max machine Worx.$110.00 later and I was back on the water, and that included 2 t-shirts.
I drove by Eddies on the way back and they were both out front, hung my head out the window as they pointed to my truck and boat and yelled "Thanks for nothing".
I wouldnt give them a penny!

I am also surprised I have been taking my boat to Eddie for the last 4 years for service and maintenance. I have seen his business grow 10-fold and I have never had any issues or problems with any repairs also Eddie has always been very accommodating getting my boat done on time he has been available on cell phone to answer questions. I have referred others and I hear positive reports of his service.
Again I am surprised as some of my close friends use Eddie exclusively and they praise his professional and prompt service. I know that he is very busy and you have to make an appointment in advance for any regular maintenance. I am sorry to hear of your bad expierance.

Thanks Smokin Joe but I will never go back to that shop agian I found out the techs that work there are not certified and have no schooling what so ever. If I would have known prior I would not have had my boat serviced there I was referred by a friend which found out about what he did and will no longer use Eddies Marine Service
