Need a good video camera

The lady and I are leaving to the Dominican Republic next week and we want a new video camera. Anyone bought one recently that they like, or dislike ?

Get the new Sony with 3 CCD . Also, Digital tape is far better than the DVD type. If you want value get a lower end sony Digital that uses the HI 8 tapes or Dig tape. You will get great footage for about $300. Also look into the sony backup battery. It will give you about 10 hours of run time. I shot race footage this year at the Parker 425 and people can't belive I was using a $300 Digital tape Sony.
However if you want to spend about $700-$900 get the Sony 3 CCD and you will get top end, near production footage.

Do you convert digital tape to dvd, or just play from camera to tv?
