Ok, so after selling all this stuff - of course we need to start buying! I'm in the market for a camcorder - for filming boating, boat build, etc...
Can you make a recommendation? I've never owned a camcorder before, but have a great digital camera (Minolta). I'm hoping to find something good enough where we can just travel with the camcorder and still get decent still pics from it.
I've done a bit of research already and I'm pretty much considering Sony at this point, but am still open. I really like the DCR-HC40 (mini-dv) and the DCR-TRV460 (hi8). I'm not quite sure which format to go with. I think I'm staying away from the mini-dvd for now because it's pretty new technology and seems more limited.
So, what do you use? How does it do on the water? What about wind noise? I don't think either of the Sony's I mentioned above has a wind reduction mode.
Thank you very much for your help!!

Hey right back to ya! :rollside:
Not going out for the damn run - sold the boat. And we have a lot of stuff going on right now, so our weekends have been to busy to escape home!

Hi honey! Hope everything with you & the family is great!
Is the TRV38 digital or analog? I checked out Canon's website and I was so disgusted on how hard it was to find out about their camcorders I closed the browser. Sony was much easier to find & compare. I'll check them out in the store though. I haven't actually gone to see any of them yet - but I'm headed this week.
Take care!

Your not helping me. You would be helping me if you would provide a link to a Camcorder for 5 bucks.

I just picked up a sony mini Dvd camera and spent a little extra over the panasonic because the sony dvds can be popped into any dvd player. panasonic would only play in panasonic. that was the key for me. Check that out w/ all the other brands.
