I appreciate your compliment, but you have me all wrong!! Ford blue runs through these veins. My first car was a 69 Ranchero w/a factory installed 428SCJ/ C6 (H model servo)/ 3:89 limited slip. I know 385 Ford engines way better than I do chebbys. Just happen to have one in my boat...hey, it's what it came with. :D
I was going to say 69 Torino, but didn't recognise the tail lights.
Here's my Ford list:
I've had...
1 70 Mustang coupe
1 70 Torino 429 GT
4 69 Mustangs (3 Mach I's)
2 68 fast backs
1 67 fast back
1 66 Galexy 390 GT Special Order (factory black, leather buckets, console)
1 85 5.0 Stang
1 92 5.0 T Bird
2 94 4X4 F150's
1 96 4X4 F250
2 68 F100 Stepsides (pre runner trucks)
and currently have a 97 Expedition 4X4, and a sweet 68 F250 Utility truck for work.
Oh yeah, I did have a 67 ss396 Chevelle (425 Horse) :D

Can that impala get good gas mileage? take a client out?

I tried to stay away & let some of the other key folks express themselves but I just can't avoid topics like this! Oh dude my maxima (not a bad name though! ;) ) owns the road & shiat like that or check it... buck fifty whew!!!! Ya next to unbelievable... :jawdrop: I almost feel bad when I come up to a stop light next to a car with a wing, stickers, coffee can type pipe & of course the infamous tach strapped to the window post, & the poor guy looks over at a real car like a frickin ufo just landed! Every once and awhile I'll squeez it a little in second gear & leave strips at about 35mph! Then casually stop at the next light & stare at him!   At that point its the unspoken knowledge that I own his punk ass! LMAO!!! :eat: :crossx:
I never said it owned the road. I am no ricer I hate the wings, stickers, etc...

Here is a link I found searching... It is all about gearing and top end. There is a famous Maxima guy that put taller diameter rims and tires on and did a speed run and got busted and thrown in jail for clocking 160+ past a cop on some interstate in Kansas, I have the scanned ticket somewhere.

BOTH of my shoe boxes have the same drag coefficiency as your Z06. Your Z06 probably has more down force for handling which actually effects the top speed.

Flytrisk...all you see is letters and numbers on a screen and you can comment on how fast the cars were or weren't? MAN...you're fu**in increadible! Two of those cars were 10 second cars with street tires and mufflers, the other was an 11 second car and the only thing NOT stock was the cam and a balance job. Fast is relative, my friend. What's your idea of fast? A freekin Chevy? And BTW the 396 was in the Chevelle. How many of those do you think were made? (Biggest worst handling POS I ever owned, too!)

well I get a short block (429) this weekend. I have some headers lined up. I just need some mounts, I might have some billets made from gofast or dave sammons, depends on when the time is ready for those. I want to keep it a 429 but these stroker kits are so cheap it is tempting. The guy I am getting the 429 from said he ran it as is with a 100 shot and went 76mph in his jet with a bad pump. That is what I am hearing, and it wont make too much of a difference in hp compared to the 460.
17 gears 11.90"x15 2 blade prop...too much gear and prop for the current set up, but it is a bunch of gear and prop waiting for some power is how I look at it.

Yes I am sure you can! With money & time anything is possible. I suppose if I wanted to turn my stang into a racer it would run in the low 10's with no engine mods what so ever! Now back to "your" car, you have to realize that they are basically a economy car with a little flair! And no I am not the guy who gets stunned on the road from "one" of those egg rolls! :notam:

Regardless of all the b.s. Rice burners are nice driving cars that kids can afford to jack up with aftermarket lick & sticks. From there I have no interest in making comparisons. Monster my truck is my daily driver built to tow my boat etc... I have spent more on the drive system than you probably did on your whole car (not being a dick just being honest). Roland, ucla and feeder, you guys is legends in ur own mindz! Old guys with BIG money? Why are you screwin around with american production crap? Why aren't you guys driving Carerra GT2's or new FordGT's or something with REAL class and performance? BTW...nitrous means "I can't build a real motor".
Uh oh...now look what I've done! :hammerhea
:D :D :D
And here I thought I was comming off as an arrogant asshole.
Carerra GT2? $425000 driver? Awsome car but it's twice the price it should be. Time will tell if the damn thing is a car that can be used or just a throphy/guarge queen for some dude with to much money.
GT 40? Well funny you should ask. Attached is a photo of my Pops real one back in 68'. Yep thats right hot shot, a real Le Mans racer on the street.
Being as though Pops had some conections to the Ford GT program I had been contacting people like Bruce Smith, Bryer Mc Kay, Max Kelly etc. (66'&67 Le Mans project mgrs.) but no one is being cut any slack or inside help.
A new Ford GT? I want one so bad I'd even go for a ride in Monsta's datsun to get one.
Word is the new GT's original production run was to be 1500 per year for three years. Word now is 800 period.
So if your name is'nt Jay Leno or Rod Stewart and if you arn't willing or able to pay double the MSRP then it's back to supercharging z06's and proweling the streets for Doctors in their $135000 turbo Carerra's.
 Hmmmm maybe I should call Ford and tell them I know Steelcomp. Maybe that would get me somewhere, or maybe just a :coffeycup

Question is what haven't I done to my truck... :notam:
1st off I wouldn't do it again but it was a learning curve! Stroker motor, trick heads, hydrolic roller cam, manifold & new throttle body, headers, 3" exhaust with flow masters & removable cats, mass air flow fuel injection coversion, msd , and on and on and on.... A little over kill but thats what happens when you take the lid off! It runs very well but was way to costly... :frown:

It made 230 hp & 420 ft lbs of torq at the rear wheels at 3500 rpm. Stops running around 5 and isn't really ment to go there! I can pull my boat up chiraco summit with the bed full & back pedal at 75+ and 3000 rpm. It is truly amazing the torq that these efi systems can make down low! As far as racing its not much faster disconnected from the boat! It was built to pull shi t!

Also just got off the phone with a real race boat driver who knows your boat and mine, funny thing is he says my little gay wacker would roll your banner jet up like a cheep Guatemalan cigar and smoke it, and we wont have to go to Bonneville to find out.
Wow..you ARE an arrogant asshole. No need to get personal here...did you see all the smilies and what-not on my post? Little sensative there, aren't we? Little insecure? Still have a need to run around in your little Corvette and prove something...make up for some kind of short coming?
You got an outboard that'll roll a hundred mile an hour jet up like a chaep cigar? Run faster? Maybe. Run quicker? maybe. Roll it up? Don't think so. BFD, anyway. There's always someone faster. Your whacker and your huffed Z06 aren't impressive.
There's not a boat racer alive that knows enough about me or my boat to tell you anything of the sort. If he is, he's really off. (I know of ONE guy that MIGHT know something about me and/or my boat, but he dosen't know that much) Bring your little whacker to Ming, leave the baby bottle at home, and let's see. Typical.
BTW...Ford won't help you if you mention my name, but hell, as cool as you are, dosen't sound like you need help! By the way you're talkin, you're right up there with Jay 'n Rod. Me, I've made a living playing with toys that you'd wet yourself over, but I'm just a workin guy. At least I built my boat.(except the hull, of course) :yuk:

What motor is it? Not to fight with you, butthat is REALLY low hp for all that is done to it. The tq is decent though, that is what makes that thing pull.
It started out as a 351. Now its somewhere around a 400. Yes the hp is low but so is the rpm. The torq is all I am interested in! I don't like lightnings & I don't want a super charged small motor. It wasn't built for anything but towing. Now with that being said get me a lightning to run & I will show you how this low hp works... ;) Its pretty much the same old story. My jet boat is making about 850 hp & will handle itself nicely around all the 1200 hp models! :notam:

Yes I am sure you can! With money & time anything is possible. I suppose if I wanted to turn my stang into a racer it would run in the low 10's with no engine mods what so ever! Now back to "your" car, you have to realize that they are basically a economy car with a little flair! And no I am not the guy who gets stunned on the road from "one" of those egg rolls! :notam: Have any of you guy's ever seen a 10 sec. car let alone owned one?????????
