Anyone know a easy way to set up the boats weight on the trailer. So when trailering the trailer does'nt go squirrelly.

your typical 20 footer should have 200-250 pound of tounge weight to keep your trailer from swaying. The rule books say,10% of total trailer/boat weight at the tounge.I can trailer 70MPH [legal speed is 55 for trailers]without problem with my 20 footer on the fotografix tandem trailer. This was back in the seventies of course.

Tongue should angle down slightly and you should have some decent tongue weight(depends on the weight of the trailer, I've seen a chart forit, some kinda percentage thing.) Also, make sure the wheels are aligned. I know, they might look at you awfully funny having one checked but they can go out of alignment if you smack a pot hole hard enough. Had it happen on a gooseneck horse trailer. Usually doesn't happen though.

As spectras only said, 10% of the weight of the towed load should be tongue weight to prevent swaying, etc. I took my 21' to the truck scales and it weighs about 3800 pounds. My tongue weight is about 320 pounds which is about 8%. It tows fine, just too hard to lift that toungue by hand!
