Hi,
After I installed a place diverter it seems that I can't steer to the left as well as to the right. It seems that there isn't enough motion allowed in the steering wheel. Does anyone have any diagrams how these steering systems are made? Also my reverse cable broke. What kind should I get as a replacement?
Thanks

No expert here, but this may (or may not) help. Take the steering linkage loose at the pump end and turn the steering wheel so that the cable is half way through it's travel. See where the end of the cable is in relation to the linkage on the nozzle. You should be able to connect it to the nozzle so that it's centered.
As for the cable, I believe that if you're running a Place Diverter, you'll want a 43BC.

I tried doing what you suggested. and it seems like there is not enough travel turn the nozzle all the way on both sides. Could be something in the steering wheel?

Hmmmn, doesn't seem likely that there'd be a steering/helm problem. How about manually turning the nozzle to the left, then rotate the steering wheel left until you can connect to the nozzle? If it reaches connect it there and then try rotating it all the way to the right to see if it'll make a full turn in both directions. Sometimes there is more play turning one way, than the other and you can split the difference. I know I had to mess with mine some after changing other hardware around, but I eventually got it.
Are you using the old Morse helm like this?

Or the newer style rack system?

I am using the older system; and i have tried it turning it all the way one direction and turning it back. It doesn't reach

I'm stumped. Maybe someone else will chime in. I used the old Morse style (like yours) with a jetovator and it reached. By the time I made the switch to the Place Diverter, I had problems with the old helm and made the switch to the rack. Maybe the rack has a little more travel than the old style.
What we need here, is someone that's using the old style helm with a PD unit.

Maybe the problem is in the steering tube. It can be threaded in or out of the hull.

How?

Excellent point sanger rat.
If yours is setup like mine, you can adjust the amount of tube that sticks through the transom and it'll give ya some more adjustment. How much do you need to make the full swing?
My tube is centered (half the threads inside, and half outside the transom). There's a good inch of adjustment there, maybe a little more.
