Alright stereo guru's I need your help with this one. My neighbors cute lesbian friend asked me to look at her car stereo, seems so guy tried to hook up an amp and two 8" subs and they weren't working. After doing a little looking the stereo has a common ground, output for each individual speakers, and a B+ power amp wire? It's not the common + - for each speaker I am used to seeing. Are there seperate amps at each speaker? A remote amp? It's not the 'Monsoon" upgraded stereo but it does have the trunk mounted CD changer.
Anyway bottom line is can an amp and subs be hooked up to this stereo with some sort of line level adaptor or something?
Thanks,
Chris
Did I mention they're cute lesbians?

I have a 2000 Passat with the monsoon system in it. All I did was installed an Alpine headunit with the factory amp then ran my power and rcas to the trunk and installed an amp to run 2 sony 12" subs. Just pick up the Metra wire harness for that car. You can also go to www.clubb5.com there are alot of system installs on their site. PM me if you need anything else! :rollside:

Use the pac line level controller. It's the 2nd one PC posted.
Not only will you be able to easily connect to the factory speaker wiring, but you'll be able to easily adjust the subwoofer bass without adjusting the factory headunit settings. It's a great way to go.
Is the wiring like this? :
Left Front (+) Blue/Black
Left Front (-) Orange/Blue
Right Front (+) Red/White
Right Front (-) Orange/White
Left Rear (+) Red/Light Green
Left Rear (-) Orange/Black
Right Rear (+) Blue/Light Green
Right Rear (-) Orange/Red

Check this site out...they have and amp and a sub that dials in your factory non monsoon system in...plug and play...at least from what a buddy told me....the system sounds great...
Go to electronics and then audio...

We use a bluapunkt piece that adds RCA outputs to the VW radios. We should have some in stock Call Robert @(909)481-8411. MAke sure to let him know you are from ***boat. I dont remember the model# off hand. You can also use the pac pieces if you dont mind some wiring. The Bluapunkt piece just plugs into the back of the radio. I think it retails for about $14.

OK sorry I got an answer that will get the subs to work but I still dont' understand how it works. How does this style stereo work? The only other place I think I have seen this wiring was on a BMW.
Is it a monual stereo?
RF- some color wire
LF- Some color wire
RR- some color wire
LR- Some color wire
Common/ground-Some color wire
B+ amp power????
Can't find any official explanations on-line.
Thanks,
Chris
