Poker Run in Havasu

Has anyone heard of the Poker Run in Havasu on the weekend of Oct. 1? Rumor or no rumor?

I was trying to get that confirmed myself. Someone came on and said it was on but gave no info. :confused:
Supposidly Art and the boys sold the poker run to Hot Boat who is, again, "supposidly" going to put it on....Sooooo, you'd think they (HB) would give out some info! So, give it up!!!

I have checked with Jokerswild Promotions, the
chamber of commerce, and Desert Steel Promotions,
and none of these have anything about a poker
fun on that weekend.
If I hear anything new, I'll let you know.

What I heard was,
HOT BOAT was going to have a poker run that weekend, the same weekend that A.Z.H.B. was going to have thier's, A.Z.H.B cancelled their event (all of them) and Hot Boat took the weekend. They have since also cancelled their event, so as I'm hearing it there is NO poker run in Havasu that weekend.

There is this that I found on another site (I can't say thier name on this site).
Looks like we're on for a club get together at the Nautical Inn for Oct 1 and 2nd. No poker run, just a party and lunch run on Saturday. We're setting it up with the Havasu for Youth folks to take the kids on the lunch run and contacting previous sponsors to cater the Lunch at Havasu Springs.
We hope many of our past members and poker runners can come out and have fun. It's the Nautical Inns 40th anniversary as well! Should be fun!
The Nautical and I are sending out flyers later this week, hope you make it!

And to clarify Bill's post, the lame-ass company took the date ONLY after finding out AZHB was calling it quits.
Their plan to capitalize on the Heatwave date backfired when the Nautical told them to go pound sand!! Gotta love that. :rollside: :rollside:
I would rather have SOMEONE capitalize on the AZHB poker run! It had been one of the best west coast poker runs for the past few years. It's a shame they got burned out (understandable though from what I've read and heard) but it would be nice for someone to pick it up and run with it. If theres no poker run, it only hurts the performance boat community. People were starting to attend that poker run from across the country. Now it's gone.
The "get together" will be fun for locals from Az. and Ca. but wont get the turn out as a professionally run poker run would bring. It's too bad, I know the SCOPE group along with many others looked forward to running this run twice a year. If someone ever gets their sh!t together and gets it up and running again it would be a good thing.

There have been some rumors floating around .........that the ***boat Magazine Poker Run has been cancelled. This is FALSE!
I just spoke with Darrin Davidson - ***boat's National Sales Director - and the event is on - all permits pulled, insurance in place, rooms and docks booked, etc. EDIT
Our plan is to depart Orange County and LA County EARLY (5am) on Thursday morning, Sept. 30th. We will meet in Lenwood (Barstow) at the Flying J's truck stop at 7:00am. This will allows us to avoid the early morning rush hour traffic leaving town and will put us into Havasu around 10am. Gas, check in, etc. and we'll be on the water by noon! Call or email me if you have any questions.

Heres the info you are looking for.
The format of the run leads me to belive that this is not a normal poker run. It sounds more like everyone will be driving to whichever stops they want getting cards at 5 of 7 spots.

Im thinking about it, but not sure. It sounds like fun, but the format this way is going to kind of suck. The fun part is the first leg, and the start.
Im not sure if there is even going to be a official start.

What the heck....check it out. We're all looking for a year-end Havasu trip anyway! :D :D It's probably much safer this way. The other way was a recepie for tragedy in the narrow areas.

Tank, I think the Marina not letting people launch was part of the problem as well. People rolling into town from all over the U.S. with high$$$ rigs and not a decent ramp to launch at.
Maybe I can look forward to some Poker Runs in my pontoon boat. :rolleyes:

The inside scoop is there will be two starts one north for the slow polks (boats) and one south for the big boys !!!! each will leave with a pace boat and then let go ,so its sounds like a race to the first stop !!!!! OH its NOT A RACE !!!!! I have my rooms booked and will be there Thur PM and on the water fri !!!! YEE !!! HAW !!!!!! Havazoo with my new Weisman drive THAT WON'T BREAK !!!!!! this will be a first for me !!! Don't know about any speed runs yet as I just started to get the boat dialed in with these # 6 props.

Looking at the format and the number of card stops (7), I would say that you go to whatever stops you want after the start and pick 5 stops to go to. Especially when it says "begin picking 5 favorite stops". Do they have a first stop, or is it go to your five favorite in any order after the start?

It looks like im out, that is the same weekend as my Anniversary, and the wife has bigger plans then going boating AGAIN. It really sucks for me, but I want to keep her, so unless theres a miracle, im out!! LOL :wink:
