Think I will get a reply to my email today:
I just got back from your McDonalds drive thru where I was told they could not accept my Arch Card that I had just received for Christmas. They said that they only had a few machines that read the card and that is was too busy to scan them up front. I had no cash but offered them my ATM card, which they usually accept, and they could also not accept it due to some problems with the ATM machine?
I don't understand why I, or anyone else, would give McDonalds my money up front for one of these highly marketed "Arch Cards" to then find out, after sitting in a drive thru for 20 minutes, that I can't use it to purchase food??
The drive thru attendant was absolutely no help as well and offered no solution to me but to go home and get cash and come back.
Meanwhile I have hungry kids strapped into their carseats who now get no McDonalds because the McDonalds card, that has "McDonalds" written all over it, can not be accepted by McDonalds. Outrageous!
There are many other options for fast food out there and this certainly pushes me their direction.
I was speechless as I drove off with no food? McDonalds doesn't their own Arch Card?
What happened to the days of customer service? "Sorry sir, it will be just a moment as I need to scan your card at another register".
I guess if there isn't a button clearly marked on the register for it they cannot make a decision on their own?
Happy Holidays!
______
I can't believe the incompetence and ignorance these people have that work here? Are they complete idiots?

And also (not being racist here just an observation)
Why are all the people working at McDonalds Mexican and all the people at Taco Bell white? No comprendo?
And I am not talking about the just the registers. I mean the entire establishment.
Taco Bell had a whole slew of white college kids in the back rollin' tacos and burritos?
No diversity at either place. Just seemed odd to me. Friends hiring friends?

As we become more and more dependant on computers, we become more at their mercy when they malfunction. If we all paid cash, there would be no problems.
Back in the day that I worked in the grocery store, when someone bitched about their ATM/Credit cards not working, and blamed me for it, I would calmly tell them that if they paid cash, they wouldn't have to worry about it (for the record, I never saw our ATMs in the checkstand go down, but it always seemed to be OUR fault).
The kids that work the registers aren't taught and don't have the common sense to figure out what to do if their computer doesn't work. This is commonly referred to as the "dumbing down of society". The new programs on the registers don't tell the kids to give you back $15.86, they tell them to give back 1-$10 + 1-$5 + 3-25c + 1-10c + 1-1c. With pictures, in case they forget what a quarter looks like. That is why when you say, "Oh, wait! I have the 14 cents", they look at you like you just asked them to explain the theory of relativity in a 5 paragraph essay. They do not know to add 14 cents to the 86 cents and you get $1 even. We have made them idiots.

How true that is..sadly.
Weird thing is if you give them the change before they punch it into the register they still look at you like you're crazy.. I've had them give me back the small change I gave them to make it an even dollar and say here you gave me too much....then proceed to take the cash and give me even more small change I didn't need in my pocket.

I have a McD story.
The wife and I went to one here in town a few years ago. We went throught the drive through, and I ordered a medium or large dipped cone. Well, the drive through idiot goes to give me a kids cone with no paper on the cone. I tell him I don't want that without the protective paper and it wasn't what I ordered anyways. He comes back with our change and ice cream all over his face. He ate the frickin reject and was about to make me another. I told him to pound sand and keep the cone. The ice cream was all over the side of his mouth. He tried to eat the damn thing in 1 bite.
Talked to the owner of the store the next day, he offered a nice credit, but I declined. I just didn't want to go back there.

I am not a big user of McDonalds, but they are only as good as their management. We have a good store here and it is very conveniently on my way to work for a quick sausage biscuit. At least McD will give you milk instead of coffee w/meals without charging extra. I do admit to hankering the McRibs when they are available.

Exact same scenario in 7-11 the other day. Guy stands there dumfounded staring at the counter when my bill was 2.76 and I handed him a $10 bill and .76 in change. It took me a good 30 seconds to esplain to him he only owed me $8.00 back. I almost took the change back just to simplify it down for him. I don't get how someone can't count simple change, addition, and subtraction etc.
RRX you just got McScrewed I'm thinkin. :)

And they are a product of todays education system! There were no calculators on the "school supplies" list, the nerve of the teachers back when I went to school,..making me figure out calculations on paper with a pencil..then to top it all off..IN MY HEAD!! Having me memorize the times table up to the 12's, and then quizzing us into the 10's of thousands...Making us think for ourselves! Todays kids(unless they want to learn, and have it beat into thier heads by concered parents) don't give a shit, do just enough to get by!

I hate it when they ask you to pull forward after taking your money because they have the timers on the drive thru, there doesn't even have to be anyone behind you. It's not like I ordered something special, it was a damn big mac.
So the next time I went through the drive thru I ordered small fries NO SALT! right during the middle of the lunch rush and refused to move until my fries were done. :jawdrop:
