I pick Led Zeppelin. They were way ahead of their time. All other bands could do is mimic what they did. Some bands still do today.

What about the KING?
All of these asshole rockstars do is copy what he did 50 years ago.
When will they step up?
Zep is a good choice if you're talking groups.

Out of that list you have to go with Zeppelin, Stone's should be on that list. But musically talented would have to go to Rush, those guys were amazing.

Either one. Eddie and his style on guitar really shook up the rock world. Their style isn't like anyone elses....

How about some early G'n'R? Appetite and the Illusions still rock to this day. They were really good before Axl's ego wrecked the whole deal.

Off the list Metalica. Best in my not so humble opinion System of a down or Rage Against The Machine :jawdrop: Isn't it great we all get to pick our favorites. :D

Off the list Metalica.
I haven't picked anything up from Metallica once they started suing their fans. I understand the drive behind it (greed mostly), but it's not like they're a struggling garage band anymore. How much is enough?

Amen Brother. I too understand, but sheesh you're fricken rock stars many times over. Since then I made a determined effort to dl all of my music from them. Since I saw them in 83, they were my favorite though.
Amazing the effect one act will have.

The mighty Zep, baby! Their music has withstood the test of time, (except for most of their live stuff - there were a little too high most of the time, witnessed first hand).

I said Van Halen not Van Hagar. I do love Zep and Metallica. Metallica made it with no help from MTV or the Radio people. Gotta respect that.

For me it would be about $28,000 :) I hear ya, I hate the politics too, but everytime I hear that guitar I just gotta say, God damn. Eddie van Halen, Jimmy Hendricks, Tom Marilo, and Slash do that to me to. Speaking of slash, anybody heard the Velvet Revolver album.

I guess I should have made the list bigger.
To many bands to list so I just picked some of the more popular.
The local radio station did their own pole. The run off was between
Led Zep & Metalica. Zep prevailed. I would definitely say Led Zep was
the most influential. They put it together right when the Beatles gave it up.
Then pushed it to a whole nether level. If you grew up in the seventies you
know exactly what I mean. Everyone wanted to look like Robert Plant even
the chicks had the hair do. Long hair. Sex & drugs, and rock and roll.

NorCal gameshow got it right. I still have Pink Floyd in the truck for the river trips (Shelleys thinks it's "druggy" music :D ), throw in some Emerson , Lake & Palmer and Oingo Boingo for a touck of 80s. I never was much for mainstream rock....

Give me a break, Rush or Hendrix? "Best of ALL TIME", I don't think so.
I would have put the Stones or Aerosmith on that list. They seem to have outlived all the bands in your poll.

I agree one of the best punk banks Dead Kennedys, saw them on New eve about 20 years ago, but the best show I have seen latley would have to be Korn....I have seen them about 10 times and everytime they rock...Best concert ever though would have to be the Voilent Fems (sorry about the spelling)..

I agree with Jordy – those first two G n’ R albums (back when they actually had those) were killer. Appetite is one of my alltime favorites. I also have my original G n’ R cd, it was the first cd I ever bought. Damn thing is about an 1/8 inch thick and weighs as much as a Frisbee.
ZEP definitely the greatest - the older I get, the more I appreciate them. Van Halen also set a new standard. Stones, Aerosmith, the Who and Metallica – all great bands, but all have also admitted to writing music for commercial appeal (sales) only. But can’t go wrong with Metallica for some kick ass tunes. Floyd and Queen, Doors also on the short list. Neil Young and his recent Greendale – best cd I’ve heard in a while.
And what would have been the next greatest band for many, many years – Sublime.
I like music. ;)

Boy this is almost as bad as a which boat is better thread!!!
Sure Elvis was "The King" but he took the blues, made popular by black musicians, and put a different "twist" or beat and well the rest is history, me i am going with Zeppelin, The Who, The Doors, but then you can look at the most influential bands and the era they were in and get a whole different set of bands, look at the "hair bands" of the 80's, then the Grunge bands of the 90's, Pearljam being my fave still to this day, too many bands i like to really narrow it to "The Best" of all time.

Ok, I'll chime in here on the rock scene. Definily Led Zeppelin, AC/DC, Deep Purple, Motorhead....Ummm Ozzy rocked with Black Sabbath, kiss, foghat, cheap trick(I mainly like them because I met this hot chick and we had one of there tunes in common),Jethro tull(Haaaaa just kidding, remember when they were up against Metalica for best metal band and they won...what a joke)! Journey was good if you wanted to get laid(All the chicks dug Journey). Ummm theres all kinds of good rock bands but only a few that stood the test of times! I was a rocker before I became a punker. I guess it was a natural step for me! :crossx:
First rock band I witnessed live was AC/DC, Boy does Angus Young have the most energy I've ever witnessed??
Punk bands I witnessed, Youth Brigade, Toy dolls, Broken Bones, GBH, Motorhead(Fell into both catagories), Suicidal Tendecies, Black Flag, 7 Seconds, circle one, bad religion, social distortion, I can't believe some of these guys are still around....Man the good ole days at Olympic Auditorium and Cathay De Grande. Those were the days hanging with the Family! :D
Ok sorry to go off on a tagent. Back to the regularly scheduled Rock fest! My all time favorite AC/DC for good ole rock n Roll!
