Well, after looking at a lot of boats (and asking about a few of them here on the forum), I finally took the plunge! We ordered a 24' Ultra Stealth today. I have to admit, John and Steve at Ultra in El Cajon really make you feel like family. Steve must have had to answer a least a hundred questions of ours but he still smiled the whole time!
John drew up the graphics awsome, just the way we wanted them too. Guess it will be a long 6 weeks until the boat is done!

What did you go with for power?

LilHarley

Went with 496 Mag. Figured it had enough power.

What's best insurance company to use? Is Progressive reasonable?

Call around, but Progressive was the best price for me.

I just used Progressive's online quote, wow ... a big difference if use 320hp or 375hp as "maximum horsepower". It jumped from $523 to $801 a year. Seems a little steep for 55hp variance.

I went with Westmar

What the policy pays is what concerend us.
They offered the highest payouts, for a wider range of reasons than anyone else.
Plus they were the best price, and their coverage included Havasu.
Congrats on your Ultra.

We use allstate our agent is great, thier was no change in price from the 496 to the 496 ho she is in mission viejo and I think we pay 490.00 or 525.00, that's for a 24 lavey with the ho. Let me know if you would like her number, we checked all over for quotes and she was the cheapest.

Also, congrats on the new ride I was looking at the same boat before I bought my Lavey, if you can, go with the HO :D I was told that every dealer pay's the same amount for the engine's how much they want to mark it up is up to the builder, we paid 5000.00 for the upgrade, but you get a stronger outdrive as well, imo I'm glad I did

Stronger outdrive with the HO upgrade? Are you sure?

THOR

Lil,
Mine insurance is way less than that with the HO. I am using Allstate and told them exactly what I have with 425 HP.

As soon as the hull is put up, I will get some pictures. The scheme is basically red, orange and yellow (blended) tribal flames across 2/3 of the hull, while the entire hull and dash are platinum (very light silver) with light grey interior. All the accents will be red billet, red bimini and red Dana LT-500 tabs. The trailer will be red as well. I am sooooooo excited!

I think when you go with the 496HO, the drive is upgraded to the XZ.

Congrats on the new Ultra. I'm sure you will be very happy with your choice. The whole crew there is great to deal with. I have the 496mag in my Ultra and I'm very pleased with the performance. If they don't have any other boats in the mold ahead of you, they should have it for you in six weeks. They promised me my boat in six weeks and I had it in six weeks.
I have Allstate insurance on my boat and I just got my renewal and my premium is $597 this year.
Definitely post some pictures of it when it comes out of the mold.

Dude,
I am a grad of UNLV and proud but we suck. No two ways about it. We are okay in the MWC but nothing else let alone the SEC.

I have a new Ultra 24 Stealth with the 496HO - I bought it during the LA Boat Show and took delivery at Memorial Day. Awesome boat - you are going to love it. I have about 42 hours on mine - no problems

I love my Ultra 247XS, the stealth is killer!! I saw an all blue one at the Nautical a couple of weeks ago. I am hoping Momma lets me move up to the 28 Stealth soon. I have the 496 Mag, it is plenty of power, you wont be dissappointed.

LilHarley
09-13-2004, 08:34 PM
Thanks Ultra5150. The 496mag should do just fine, I wanted some other upgrades which just cut into what I could spend.

Now that's a MAJOR understatement!!! Johns Gel guy is the frikin Picasso of boat gel.... Just looking at those 05's in ***boat this month you can see the guy has some sick ass skills! He's got more cross-overs in that thing and they're all flawless.... Hopefully when I'm ready to order a Daytona he'll be working for Eliminator :D :D :D
