Hey have a question. I just ran an A/O today after he called me out when i was loading more people on my boat. All passengers were on. One boy 250lbs,me 200lbs,other boy 140 last one 90 lbs.And almost full of gas about 45 to fifty gallons of gas. Ok we took off out of the channel going into Clear Lake i was going about 30 trying to get away from large wakes from other boaters, the A/O was going a little faster but couldn't seem to keep back of boat stable,It was going side to side bad. Ok we kept on speeding up he was fighting boat going in straight line and going about 85 mph by now i just pushed a little harder to let him know he was not going anywhere and continued to pass him at 102 mph, he then let off and turned away. What happened? Why can't he keep in control? Mine boat is a Talon bottom it is the best by far. No porpose just WFO in a straight line. THanks Firehawk

Was the nose up when its was rocking side to side or was it burried? It was either too much tab or too much trim.

I have heard of some bad experiances with American Offshore in the past, but how are they currently? I am considering purchasing a tunnel in that range, and they seem to do well with moderate power. I know drew down has one and loves it, anyone else chime in.

Rusty, I think, the AO has the same Talon bottom as well. Sounds like either set up or the driver.

We have had an AO for 6 years now and have never had a problem like that, must of been a mechancial problem. :mix:

My boat will rock side to side if I dont take a boat wake head on. As far as lake chop, it just sails over it. Its a very light boat and by no means sticks to the water. Its more like skipping across the top. If your looking for a AO to run come on out to havey. Sounds like the guy you were running had a little to much trim going on. We all share the same bottom. But weight and engine placement make a big difference in my experiances. Next time just blow by him so you dont have to experiance his unstable ride.

The boat was white with blue writing that said Bad Boy!!!! I had to show him a Spanking LOL! I am not sure how fast wfo is on my boat yet. To all prop calulators out there figure this one out, 1.5, 34 p Bravo 1 no shorty, 2200 rpm, 52 mph. GPS. Hardin Marine new tach. Very little trim. That day was a little choppy busy water,But i was in the same waves, I was as close as maybe 80 feet from him, could of been operator error though. Come to think of it his boat looked a lot like mine, especially the front. Would of liked to talked to him but he must of been in a hurry to do something else. I am expecting to get my boat up around 130 mph with the new blower set up and new out drive next summer, sure would like to come to Havy next year and we can sure make some noise.

Both boats have the same bottom. AO splashed the Talon. Therefore there has to be a setup problem or a driver issue. As for the best bottom, I'm not sure. If you're talking about a family cat, then yes, the Talon would be one of the, if not the best bottom design. If you're talking all out speed, then a true tunnel boat will be faster.
