I happened to just take a look at a bike shop and this caught my eye. This is a generic photo, but the one I'm looking at has chrome pipes and white rims. It has 18,000 miles on it. The thing is super clean and my wife keeps telling me to go get it. Talk about twisting my arm. "You know it could be gone soon. I'm surprised you didn't come home with it. You sure you don't want to go get it". Any thoughts from previous owners?

More of a "touring" bike, if that is what you are looking for, I don't know.
Honda's are a good streetbike.
I have had my '95 CBR900RR since '98 or so, I put about 30,000 miles on it, mostly on the edges of the tires and I have had very few problems with it. I have had to put a battery in it every year since I have owned it. That bugs.
My first bike was a CBR600F1 Hurricane, I rode the shit out of that bike for 4 years and other than what I caused, I had ZERO problems.
Depending on what you are looking for.
What is the dry weight of that bike? I would be concerned about that.
Other than that, I say go for it.
Have you rode dirt or street bikes before? Please say yes.
White wheels look bitchen when they are clean. You know the rest.

If you are looking for a sport bike than you are going to come up a little short with that one...that might not be much of a haul ass or a cayon runner if that is what you are looking for.

They run good, and live forever, but they are more of a sport tour like an ST or FJ than a sport bike. Comfy for the long ride, easy to get luggage for, etc.

Hey Brian, when are you going to dust that bike off and show me the way round GMR? :) :)

Yes, I have a lot of miles on a bike. I'm coming out of a Honda 750 that I've had for several years, and I don't want to go smaller.. I'm a little past the stage of the serious carver, otherwise I would go for the new 800, but it seems to have real nice comfort feel and yet sporty enough to cut a few curves. Dammit, I guess I'm going to go pick it up tomorrow. :D

If your looking for a great old sport touring bike, you won't go wrong with that one. I had a friend that had one he bought new. Him and his wife rode well over 100K miles all over north america. They loved it and never had any problems. Haven't talked to him in a few years, but it wouldn't suprise me if he was still riding it.

RC51,,,,prrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.
Yucaipa too, cool. Whenever MVG and I get that ***boat ride together, you need to come out.
I think that CBR1000 you have pictured is newer, but basically yes.
A friend of mine had this same bike you pictured. I thought it was too heavy for my tastes, and truely not a canyon carver, but it was a good all around bike. He rode the shit out of it. Honda's are a good motorcycle.

OK excellent. I will spare you my "new rider" seminar.
Cool deal, post some pictures when you get it home. And be careful if it happens to be on new tires.

I had to move the fleet around this weekend, and I did give it a little dusting off. I miss riding that bike.
Soon sir, soon.
Look we got another sportbiker in our neck of the woods, RC51.

Looks like it, maybe an HB sportbike run for fun or charity sometime in the future, heck with gas at 3 bucks a gallon what better way to have fun than on 2 wheels!!! Wouldn't mind the Palms to Pines, lunch break and then on back home unless we make a pit stop in Palm Springs for refreshments.

Ok, so is it worth the $5,000 he's asking for? Where can you book a bike online?

There's an 87 on Ebay for "buy it now" $2500, doesn't look as nice as your pic, its the older style Hurricane. Here's a 1993 for $4300 looks pretty slickCBR 1000 (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1993-CBR1000-f-CLEAN-BEAUTIFUL-BIKE-14k-mi-READY-2GO_W0QQitemZ4630492000QQcategoryZ49999QQssPageNam eZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem)

You guys would have to take it easy on me. I only have a couple hundred miles on the RC51. But I have lots of miles on this one, and it dosn't rail the corners. It will take some time to start running it very hard.

The CBR 1000f was and is an excellent bike. It is not as hard core as an cbr rr or similar bike but it was not designed to be so either. The 1000f was a crossover bike from cafe racer to touring bike and did so very well. You can ride it for a long time with comfort, not to much pressure on your wrist & so on. It can haul two very well and is a solid feeling bike with nimble traits and very good power. Price is all over the board for these so be cautious but they are a worth while motorcycle that can give many comfortable and care free miles. You wont have the fastest cafe but surely one of the most comfortable. I sold Honds for many years and have had many bikes, this is a good bike.

I'm not looking for the hardcore racer. I want something I can have fun on and still have my wife on the comfortable side on the back.

The price is too high for that bike and I'm sure it's not going anywhere for a while. It not one of the hot bikes selling on the market right now. I ride mostly Honda's back home. 929RR, 954RR, 1000RR, RC-51. They are great bikes but that one your looking at is a little old. You should look at something newer. Parts get harder to find on older bikes.

My last bike, which I actually still have, but has been parked for the last year is an 82 Honda CB750F Super Sport. I bought it for $500 with 18,000 miles. I put an additional 35,000 on it before the speedo cable broke. The only thing I have ever done to it is oil changes, tires, brake pads and chains. Oh, and the seat redone. I've had that bike for 16 years now. I think the next one will last me for quite some time.

The MR. Here...
If I remember right that bike had cam chain tensioner issues. Might have only been on high mileage models? I'm sure there is a manual tensioner to install. Even during it's time, it wasn't a sporty bike, it was a toury bike, but a very nice one. All the normal Honda refinements, good all around bike.
