So sad to hear of another death..its getting to frequent that we are reading of this stuff.....I'm ready to stop reading the papers and these Boards.
.
But this was a preventable accident...I NEVER switch riders unless engine is off and all crew are aboard before restarting.........period.

Y' know, I was trying to reconstruct that incident in my head and I can see how easy it would be for it to happen :frown:
I, like any other responsible boat operator, shut off the engine whenever changing skiers/tubers/etc...but if somebody was on the back seat letting out rope while I idled the boat away and for whatever reason fell in...I don't think I could shut down fast enough before causing serious damage :frown:
I wonder if the victim was standing on the engine cover?
Just trying to think it through so I can minimize the risk out on the water...my condolences go out to all involved

I think with the rise in boating popularity, we are going to continue seeing more stories like this. As with all things, the more people involved, the more the incidents will rise. I bet that the percentage rate of people involved remains constant.
Very, very sad. I pray for all.
