Ok, here's my dillema.
My lease is up on my current truck. That's good cause I'm tired of it. Anyway I've narrowed my pick of it's replacement:
Choice 1: Surburban 2500 LS...Nice SUV, will pull the boat no problem and has all the toys I want.
Choice 2: BMW 535, sports package, steptronic trans, more bells and whitles... Won't pull the boat, but I'll look damn good in it :D
I just can't make up my mind and it's drivin me nuts. The best is yet to come, my little brother also wants a new vehicle and thinks that if I do the shopping he'll just buy whatever I buy so we can get a volume discount.
WTF do I do now. I feel like a kid in a candy shoppe and I can pick only one item...Dang...

The BMW would be sweet, but I dont think the Germans have figured out a class III hitch for it yet. You're gonna have to go with the truck. :D

Scream,
I have the same prob. I have a 02 f250 4x4 sper crew lifted, dvd, etc. The only problem is it is a v10. Gas sucks. The god damn thing will pull a house of the foundation the and the gas to do it will cost as much as the house your pullin. I was looking into the 535's I love the new style. I also thought of buying a used one ( 2 or 3 yrs old ) and keeping the truck

Don't you have any tough questions to answer?
This one's simple:
BMW X5 has 6,000 pound towing capacity (http://www.boatingmag.com/article.asp?section_id=11&article_id=205) and will do everything a 5 series will do. They ride and handle great!

Well, here's another hitch in the getalong...
I can use Deb's Navigator to tow the boat if I need to. I has a short wheel base, but it's also got a 300HP power plant and plenty of towing capacity to handle the boat, so towing isn't that big o deal, IMO.
If we didn't have another tow vehicle, it would be a no brainer, but since we do and I do want both I'm so screwed.
Dan, my sister has a new X5 and she loves it. It's a nice SUV or what ever BMW calls it, but the towing capacity is just a bit shy of what I would call comfortable. They are nice though.

I'm so confused...

My words of wisdom, remember I'm much older than you......
#1 Sell Debs Navigator.........
#2 Buy a Crewcab Duramax to tow with
#3 Forget about the BMW
#4 Buy a new 'vette
#5 AND MOST IMPORTANT....................don't go shoping with ahhell

this was going to be my responce as well..only go for the 4.8IS ..its a M5 with a lift kit that will pull 6000 pounds. The 4.8's are just sick and wrong! AND for a added bonus...If you are self employed or own a business the BMW meets the 6000 GVWR tax laws(its 6005 GVWR), you can take a 100% write off of the vehicles price the first year on your taxes :rollside: Its like paying only Half price  ...I/we have a black on black 4.8 available...BTW :p

How about a Porsche Cayanne S. It will pull 7,716 lbs.
It is pricey though.
Just trying to find the compromise between towing and sporty.
My brother used to sell them. Those bastards are fast.
Just my .02 cents.

i had a Ford Expedition. Gave it to the wife and bought a BMW 528I Sport Package. Black with black interior. Steptronics, blah blah blah. Had it 2 days. Missed my Expedition. then a buddy cracks the joke:
Whats the difference between a BMW and a porcupine? .....With a BMW, the pricks on the inside.
it stuck with me. one year later i traded the BMW in for a Denali XL, gave that to my wife, and took back the Expedition (YEs, the environmentalists love me).
Stay with the truck.
