Everyone in the crew (and you know who you are) the date has been set for the third annual Hooky Day on the Delta, it's Oct 15th. Meeting at Orwood for breakfast at around 8 and then heading to Chris's island. May set up some kind of poker run or just radar runs as in the past, but its still a good reason to blow off the shop and get one last day out before the rain shows up. Hope to see a few new faces there from the boards there!

OK talked to Wayne, he might make it. Cliff not too interested so far, John also a maybe, and a maybe for me so I guess that's about as wishy-washy as it gets! :D Weather will be the BIG factor for us. Don't want to pull over the Siskiyou's if there is snow.

Sounds good to me. I'm Randy's friend, and he gave me a heads up about this. He may ride with me or not, we'll see. If the weathers OK, I should be there.

Hey Diggler, congratulations on the new Ultra. Which model and what motor?
Boatmaster, I will try to make it to Orwood for the 3rd annual Hooky day if I can find a place to store my boat near there for that weekend. We have a NJBA race in Bakersfield that weekend and I have to be down there the evening of the 15th for registration. It would be too much towing to pull the boat over to Orwood and then back home and then drive down to Bakersfield that same evening. I will let you know if I can find a place with secure indoor storage for that following weekend and if I do, I will plan to be there.

Robbie Racer=I am sure we can handle your indoor boat storage. I have room for your boat in my shop always. I could even tow it over and let you just hit the road. I could leave my boat in the water for the weekend and tow yours home with me.
My shop is in stockton and Hulshot has room in his garage and its only 5 miles down the road. Sounds like he wont be getting his boat till around then.
Just make sure your drive is sealed this year :hammerhea

Hey Racer, thanks for the offer. That sounds good if I can store it in your shop for a few days. I don't mind towing it to Stockton after we pull off the river (depending on what time we get off the river) and then heading down to Bakersfield. I just wasn't too excited about towing it two hours back to Gilroy and then driving another 4 hours down to Bakersfield that night.
I think I have the drive leak plugged this year so that shouldn't be a problem. Now if I can only remember not to get too close to the bank and get the prop in the mud and ding it up again like I did last year.

RACER52
09-21-2004, 09:13 AM
RR= sounds good, either way your storage problems are handled.
Now I just have to get on the ball and get my blowers sealed. Somehow the o-ring under the manifold blew out and at any boost it was leaking fuel. I was able to get on plane and then played with the throttle to keep the boost close to zero and it didnt leak. I dont think the hatch blowing off had anything to do with it, shoot it could have been leaking for a long time
But I do know that the blowers will be exposed on any future outings. I wonder how much water the rear intake throttle bodies will injest at high speeds.????

Hey Don, thanks for the offer to loan me your garage for a few days. That will work out great. :)
Drew, are you still planning some radar runs if Randy doesn't make it with his radar gun? By the way I was over at Gary Williams house yesterday. Besides that bad assed F-34 he has for sale, he also has a matched pair of 30 pitch 4 blade Mercury Cleavers for sale that fit the 225 pro max motors. Do you know of anyone that might want them?

Well Don, had quite a scare on my boat Saturday. Totally my fault from hitting margarita's all day. The blender was running avgas. Did a full throttle pass, turned around, forgot to trim down , began another race and went to trim at 100+. Wind caught it and she started going over even as I was trimming down and letting off throttle. Probably about 40 deg. tilt on smooth water  When I bought this boat I told myself not to get too f...ed up and drive. That was the first and last time I will do that! Ruined a good set of boxers

hp350- boxers are cheap if a lesson is learned. Glad your able to post about it.
On a better note the little woman has driven the boat 2 weeks in a row for that reason alone. Now when the margaritas are flowing she'll be driving.
Only thing that scrares me is that she was really lovin it and started to use the trim button :frown:

Powerboat mag. tested a 22 Nordic (hp500efi 1.50 1.5" raised X ).... 0-10 seconds, the 32p B1 was at 25mph and the 32p Maximus at 50mph. Only 2 tenths top end lost with the 5 blade. Racer52 - never did hear back from Gator. Did you get a chance to speak to him about his availability? With him taking off on the 5th it doesn't seem likely. If that's not gonna work, I may have to just weasel my way into Sterling Marine or Larson Marine here in Rancho Cordova to get the sucker fixed in the next week or so.
Unless.....Does anyone have any other recommendations local to Sacramento for this kind of service? The clock's tickin on me & I need some speedy help.

My boat gets the worst gas mileage out of the group hands down.
I think I could make all the stops on 1 tank maybe tank and half.
Boatmaster- the run to riverboat could be from union piont.
that would be the best run- theres atleast 5-6 spots I can think of in that run that are good for 110mph.
Maybe over breakfast at Orwood we can all decide. Shouldnt be hard to agree.

Racer
Racer52- What octane fuel is available at the fuel stops? I will bring extra 100LL in the truck tank.
I may bring gas cans on the boat, sounds like a long run.
Provided weather is OK, I should be there late Thursday afternoon. Anybody up for some silvers? One of you guys have an extra bed and shower Thursday night? Could bring air mattress too. Would help me keep costs down a little as my Lightning burns premium, and lots of it in 1300 miles.......

sounds like the Delta is in trouble.
Just got back from DonPedro, we had a great weekend.
We met a new hot boater who's sportin a new 25 elimintor with canopies.(lime green, with purple and yellow eliminator graphics.)
We ran a few times and had fun. We agreed that I had about 5mph on him.
Made me feel good cause he was running a whippled 870hp. motor built by Semper.
Him and his wife said they will come up for the 15th. They were excited about learning the Delta.

OK ! I'm back from Havasu and was thinking on trying to make this little deal on the Delta keeping in mind that I have broke every time I was down there !!!!! My drive held up at Havasu ,it was nice to make a whole PokerRun without breaking. This Weisman drive is the ticket !!!!!!!!! I hammered it all weekend at Havasu , We were the frist sgl eng boat to Havasu Springs and the fifth overall, the water was very rough could barely keep it in the water we ran the 20+miles at 110 mph the drive came out of the water many times and did not break.Still only have the prop I got from Washed Ashore and really need more pitch for the power i'm making, we never got over 12 lbs boost.
Where is a good place to Stay Fri night close to the launch point and I need instructions to where you all will be launching. Ok now were turning up the heat with some boats. I like the list. Wayne, come on down. I just saw the forcast and it call for 82 on friday with little or no winds, and sunny. Hp make the haul. Wayne, why do you have to leavea at sunset or dark. It will be easy to get back arund where we will be.
Boatmaster, damn you, you get to have all the fun. My phone never rings with envites???? what gives?????
Racer are you launching on Fri morn at orwoods or thurs adn keeping it at TT,s place.
Hey wayne, I thought you said you were going to spin your motor up to 7000+ rpms, why wont you do it now with the prop you have. put the boost to it and stand on it. It will be ugly when the little piss pot of Kevins runs by you at you max speed. You dont want that to happen now do you.
Deltarat, I am very positive we will get you a ride in a larger boat, or smaller. It is not a race, just a group of people enjoying boating together. I think on Sun I have hunnydooooosss. I just got the report fromt the boss.
Cant wait for Friday.....
P.S. Hullshot might be packin somthin Fri. Shhhh dont say anything just yet..

PISS POT !!!!! sounds like you called it right !!! come on now !!! do you really think I can be intimadated anymore !!!! now that I have a drive that wont break. To turn up the boost anymore requires VP-C16 fuel and I really need a bigger prop to do that, 135-140-mph on 110 will take care of all commers down there anyway !!!!!even with Robbies juice !!!!

Rokit mouth is starting to get wound up. from the last meetings rokit and Robbie have made, with rokits claimed speed numbers he should have stomped Robbie Racer, but instead Keith was doing the stomping and he still just smiles and doesnt say a word about what his boat should or shouldnt do. Keith has never had to back up his mouth with his boat, unlike some of us have been triing to do for quite some time now. Wanyne, no more excuses. You have poured so much money into your boat you could have at least 10 of our boats. So come on what is anther 1000-1500 on a new prop. Why do you have troubles finding props now?????? I dont think the race teams with #6 drives have problems finding or fixing props. You know you could have one in a matter of days, but maybe your affraid your boat wont run the numbers you want, and you are procrastinatng until you can figure it out.

Come on now HS !!!!! I only raced Robbie once and he beat me by 2 mph and only cause I screwd up that day and that was when I had a 1471 on the motor !!! Now things have changed just a little bit he ! he ! he ! When I give out speed numbers you can take them to the bank NO BS !!!!! .Now that the drive problems have been solved you all will be singing a different tune !!! I ran 135mph at Shasta three weeks ago at 6400 rpm at 12-14 lbs boost then what do you think I can do at 20 lbs boost on race fuel !!! thats with this little prop I have 16.25 x 29 . If Robbie can run135+ he may have a chance untill I get the right prop. The reason I cant find a prop is the ones I need have to be built at Mercruiser and they were back logged for 4-5 weeks its not the cost it was the time to get them. Makes no since to boost it anymore without a bigger prop . There may be four of us in my boat not sure yet. Its raining up here and foggy today hopr the weather will be better down there.

Hey ! Guys !! I'm planing on moving up to a 36 cat the winter of 2005 and selling this boat late next summer so keep me in mind if ya see a bargin on a 36,I don't mind rebuilding a used one but also am looking at a new Eliminator 30 with Wiseman drives and BIG ! BIG ! motors ,i'm wondering how a couple of Nat Asperiated 740 cu in motors would do ,cruise at 140 all day long with no blower problems !!! top speed would not be so important but being able to run a long Pokerrun at 140 and no worry about the rough water or drive or motor problems I think may be a winner.

YA !! Mike bring the boat its the last run of the year, wish I had a bigger prop to use on Keith pretty sure im maxed out around 135 will still have 5-7 lbs boost left that I can't use untill I get a prop. Theres no time to get one and merc is still 3-4 weeks out so when the props come I will have to wait for spring or maybe Indian Summer in Feb up there on the Willimate River will try them before I have them Labbed at the propeller Co in Havasu, I'm getting a Four blade Merc 29x 16.5 and a 31x 16.5 to run first then I can cut down the dia as needed as the 16.25x29 that I have from All Washed Up works very well and should work great on the boat he's building. I expect to get to 150 mph pretty easy using the numbers i'm running now and that WITHOUT JUICE !!!!!

Hey, it's great to hear the drive is holding up and speed is increasing. I started a thread over on offshoreonly to see if anyone has a prop for you. Did John ever tell you guys we were b/s ing on his speeds in the Warlock? Actually he's probably capable of 140 or so but the water was too calm to work it. That thing is a monster in the rough stuff, and looks so badass with the roosters from the 6's. With the motors at 12lbs. on 110 the acceleration was about as fast as my little boat! Keep in mind I'm not really ready for keith cause i'll be running with one hand tied behind my back ( prop) but will give it a shot anyway I'm turning way too much RPM with this prop and dont want to hurt the motor after all if I can make the whole day running it will be a first on the delta !!!!!

RIM your 35 miles from Orwood at March lane. I would go to the Holiday Inn in Brentwood if you are not already tied to staying in Stockton, main reason being MUCH MUCH SAFER place to leave the boat. Yes Orwood will be open and serves up a great breakfast. We will be stopping where ever anyone wants to for lunch, but we had figured on Riverboat off the Stockton Channel. After breakfast we were going to head to a beach up around Garlic Brothers. After lunch head back to Chris's and find a good place for radar runs.

Now that sounds like fun.
The ski beach area in Stockton is a good place for all us to beach and bullshit!!! :argue:
The main channel on a smooth day will be good for speed runs on Friday.
I've done many runs myself there near ski beach. It will be wide open without any skiers and lice :skull:
Also kinda cool to pass the ships in the main channel at 100mph.
makes for a good sound
RIM=it would be a better stay in Brentwood than Stockton.
HP350= you guys should stay on the island. We'll make a party out of it.
the keg will be floatin by dark

Hey Rock It I would have to agree with Boatmaster on the hotel in Brentwood.
I think for the extra 30 min. it will add to your trip it will be well worth the peice of mind that you will have when you lay down to to sleep. On the flip side you'll like being able to sleep that extra 30 min. on Friday morning and to boot your only 4 miles from the Bloody Mary's. See ya at Breakfast!!

The place I stay there is very safe its back away from I-5 and theres security, besides after I had my truck stolen in Vegas my new one along with the boat is well propected ,if you even get close a little guy jumps out and kicks you A$$,and I get a deal on the rooms as a member of the ??????/ chain won't say exactly where were staying as you never know who's watching this thread ,I can PM you if ya really want to know. I looked at my map and thats a lot of miles to cover boatmaster my fuel take may not last that far.

RIM we don't plan on run WFO everywhere, you should have know problem making that run on a full tank. About the same as running from Obrien Inlet to Jones Valley and back. If you leave Stockton by 7:30 you should make Orwood by 8:15-8:30 for breakfast. Remember Troy and I know all the back routes of our back yard. Should work out just right to put everyone lite on fuel once we get to the Island.!!!! :D

Because this group is growing at a fast pace we all need to know that there is only enough dock space at Chris's for 10-15 boats and that will be tight. There is a very protected slough that runs behind the island that boats can anchor in and then be shuttled in to the dock. Point being is bring an anchor if you have one and bumpers/ropes.

RACER52

Boatmaster=if it turns out to be a key switch I will shit. We replaced the coil last night and still died after 25min run time. It restarts now almost
right away. I'm ready to sink it or trade it in since a dealer trade evaluation would never pick up this problem.
so far replaced the
1.distributer module
2.fuel pump
3.coil
have a fuel pressure guage installed inline and it reads a constant 25-30lbs
and does not drop when it dies.
We said screw it and went to the marina for dinner.
On a brighter note, we should have docks on thursday. And the weather

HP350SC
10-13-2004, 08:57 AM
Racer- Wire a test light to coil positive and drive it. See if you lose power there when it dies. What year/make/sbc? Friend of a friend also has a ski boat same problem, turned out to be ect sensor failing and telling module it was overheated> module shuts motor down. Assuming you have EFI.
About how far are we planning to drive the boats, don't want to buy fuel at marina as I'm bringing my own on truck. Should I bring gas cans on boat?

Hey Wayne you should bring your truck tank and stock up on 110 fuel at 3 something a gallon.

RACER52

the ect problems sounds like a winner!!
Already found that there isnt any power to coil or distributer when the after
the engine dies. I'll hook a test light up tomorrow night and drive it over to Tunnel T's for some brews. I think I'll throw a new key switch in also.
Is it possible to bypass a sensor(ect) or just replace it?
Racer
Hp350- I would bring gas cans if you are really worried. I dont think anyone will be hurting for gas. We can always make a run back to marina
mid day to your truck if needed.

Boatmaster
10-13-2004, 10:08 AM
The 3 something a gallon is at a marina that is water access only. Not sure how much fuel you can carry, but you should be fine if you fill up. After our morning/afternoon run it should leave you nice and lite for radar runs and just enough to get back to the trailer. The marina that sells the 110 is less than one mile from Chris's island anyway! This time tomorrow I will just be getting on the water  .
