casale question?

on a casale split case,should the bearing cap's be set up 'net' or have a
thou or two(.001-.002) clearence or preload? or?

Well if you just took the case off to change gears just put it back together with the shim gaskets that were origanilly there, if you're doing a rebuild from scratch after you put the case on measure the depth from the bearing to the case and compare to the index on the cap and add shims accordingly, no preload or clearance!..
