Down to Two need help.

Getting a new boat, but can't decide. Some imput would be great.
Here is the list:
24' Stealth by Ultra
24" Valor by Essex
Both with the 496 HO
Would like your opinion on these two boats, so you can make up my mind!!!!!

Get the Ultra. I know of an 2001 Ultra 247 whith the HP500EFI Whipplecharged for a great price.....wait, its mine :jawdrop: . Really, go with Ultra.

Almost bought the ultra but decided on a 24 lavey instead ( very happy) are you choosing those two for the seating?. My friend has a 25 essex tempest and he likes it fine, I would say that the essex is a heavier boat which might be a better ride? but your money will probably go futher with the ultra. I think that essex use'sall top of the line building products in the construction of thier boats, which is why they are a higher priced boat. Since you only asked for input on those two boats I wont tell you to buy a LAVEY LAVEY LAVEY LAVEY LAVEY j/k :D good luck.

My last boat was an Essex and I seriously considered the Valor when I was shopping. Essex builds a very nice boat. But I ended up going with an Ultra. I felt with the Ultra I was getting more bang for my buck. Essex builds a heavier hull and they don't perform as well as an Ultra does. I'm very happy with my Ultra and I'm glad I purchased it. I think you will have a hard time finding unhappy owner's of either brand of boats. I don't think you would be unhappy with either boat. But if I was to do it all over again I'd still buy an Ultra. I don't think you can find a better group of people to deal with than John West and his crew at Ultra. He stands behind his product and is a pleasure to deal with. Good luck with your decision.

Not to slam Ultra, but if it were me, I would go with the Essex.

Like I just mentioned in another thread, it comes down to intended use and styling. The Essex has tons of room, rear-facing seats, great deck hatch and a great stearn swim step configuration for watching parade of b**bies. We spend a lot of time on the back of our boat just hanging out, having lunch, whatever.
They are both great boats.
Interior space was a huge factor for us, and even the 21 ft Sterling gives us ample room for the type of boating we like to do. Performance was second to utility for us, although we are extremely happy with the way our boat drives.

I also agree with Thor, with the same power I believe it will outperform the Essex.

When it comes to gel coat, ALMOST NO ONE can touch ULTRA if you tempt their sprayers.
but remember this will be your boat, what works for me may not work for you. DO WHAT IS RIGHT FOR YOU.....

Took the drive to Corona, thinking, well, it would be cool just to check out
the new show room at Ultra, even if we didn't get a boat.
But, we made the plunge, had to take it, was UNBELIEVABLY AWESOME

Its got the 496 Mag, billet swim step, scissor hinges on engine hatch, AWESOME interior.
