I got kick out of Camanche several years ago. Was told to never return....Those people have no sense of humor.

I'm from Sac, Hogan is only an hour drive for me. where do most of the guys with jets go, what lakes? I don't like the delta, my boat sits too low in the water and I,m paranoid about getting swamped. I sunk it at Bullards two summers ago. It would be nice to meet up with some other jetters out there.

Jim,
That's kind of funny, in my 20+ years of jet boating, I feel safer from getting swamped at the Delta than I do at just about any lake I've been to. I guess it depends on what part of the Delta you go to. I know if you're on one of the main channels where the real big boats and ships frequent, it's a concern but areas like where Tower Park is, it's not a concern to me at all.
What's Bullard's like? I was debating about having a get together up there. What's the camping situation like? Are there sites on the lake or very near to it?
I'm pretty fond of Rollins Lake even though it's not all that big. We'll be up there from 6/14 thru 6/20 at the Peninsula campgrounds.

Jim-
I share your Delta concerns but like Cas said it really depends on where you go. I'm in the San Jose area and the most convenient place is Anderson Res. Unfortunately ***boats are far and few between so it looks like I'm going to be trailering a bit more to hook up with some of the others up here in Nor Cal...
BTW, Rollins is one of the nicer camping/boating lakes in your area. It sounds like Cas is setting up a nice get together!

BBB,
We have quite a few people coming to the Tower Park Run from your area. You ought to hook up with them and join us, it's going to be a lot of fun.
I'm thinking about having a get together at Rollins Lake next year. I'm going to see what it'll take to get about 20 campsites on the water at Greenhorn Campground. Actually, if it could work out, I'll see about setting something up for this coming Sept.
The biggest worry at the Delta for me is there are some very blind turns you need to watch out for. I've already seen a jet boat come flying around a turn and broadside a cabin cruiser, it was not a pretty site.
If any of you want to come check out the Tower Park Run but don't feel like bringing your boat, please feel free to join us. If you do decide to come without your boat, I'm going to be the first to forewarn you... you'll be sorry you didn't.
We're going to have quite a few very knowledgable people there for a lot of great info, history and all around good stories.
If I remember correctly, Hot Boat will be there taking some pics too, at least they told me to hold a spot for them.

Hey BBB,
Your right, Anderson doesn't have many hotrod boats. And, when you show up with one, the rangers tend to bristle up and growl. I live at Anderson Res. What kind/color of boat do you have?

When is the Tower park get together? It would be good to see how other guys have their boats set up. Rollins, I've never been there is it good water skiing? How about beaches for getting out of the boat? Bullards Bar is beautiful, but there are no beaches, but good skiing. A wakeboarder sunk me, I hate waves. Jim

I'm from Modesto all the local hot boater's go to Vivian cove at Modesto res. off hwy 132 east of Waterford. no speed limit open headers, but go slow in the 5 zone http://free.***boat.net/ubb/mad.gif . This past weekend was A blow out (windy as hell)out of the 12 flattie's & 5 Jets that showed only half the flat's ran and the jets still had a hell of a time with the white caps!!! first time I've seen it like that. the sad part was the fact that some guys came from the bay area and could hardly play.A month ago Tony Scarlotti had his personal toy COLE CASH out, radared at 111 MPH http://free.***boat.net/ubb/eek.gif we may be a small town (180.000) but we do get the big boys out to play. as for the delta, talk about dirty water let me throw a shovel full of sand in my pump, but I'll still go to Lost Isle P-A-R-T-Y, Y? because I gotta http://free.***boat.net/ubb/biggrin.gif

Jim, I think more jets go to hogan than camanche. Hogan has pretty smooth water all day and camanche gets real rough in the afternoon. Plus Hogan 2.00 launch, and its close to 15. to launch at camanche.
As for the Delta I had my 18' tahiti out on the main channel near b@w a couple of weekends ago, windy and rough as hell,no problems just get a little wet...just make sure running good,if you lose power its swamped.
The Tower park run sounds pretty fun, would be a good chance to learn about the Delta with a lot of experienced people out there.

Camp Far West, it is not the biggest but there is no hassel on speed or noise. In fact fathers day weekend is A big turn out.

Jim,
Rollins isn't very wide in comparison to most lakes so the waterskiing is pretty good most of the day. It will get some chop in the main body of the lake but if you go up a couple of the fingers, it's pretty darn good.
This will be the first time we'll be up there on Father's Day so I have no idea how crowded it will be. That was my disclaimer just in case you make the trip up this weekend http://free.***boat.net/ubb/biggrin.gif
As far as beaches, to be honest, I've never really looked. When we go, we always camp for a night or two so there isn't a need for a beach. The last couple of years, we've stayed at the Peninsula Campground and rent one of the group sites. With the site we get, we have our own private cove with a beach.
You can go to my website, www.laidbackboaters.com (http://www.laidbackboaters.com) to get info on the Aug. 23-25 Tower Park Run, Rollins Lake and a few other lakes.
That made me think of something, do you have any pictures of Bullard's Bar? of the lake itself and the campgrounds, by chance? If so, I'd really like to add a page to my site about BB.
you can go here to read about last year's run http://www.concentric.net/~Jjlee/boats/RJBboard/towerParkPix/tower.html

TBolt,
I've been jettin around the Delta for the better part of 20 years and I've never experienced that. I've seen a zillion water lillies down near Frank's Tract, sand bars near Tracy Oasis, floating logs usually early in the year and many other things but never water dirty enough that it's like throwing sand in a pump. Being it flows 365 days a year, the sand level in all the places I've ever been has been nil, unless I backed my boat off a beach instead of pushing it off.

HEY CAS, over exageration on my part the Delta is nice if you catch it right, but do watch out for ther cabin cruiser's ( unless you have a jet ski)and to think I sold my surfboard for a water ski http://free.***boat.net/ubb/rolleyes.gif Hell you can go from Mosslanding to Sac Via. every bar on the Delta ( and every fuel stop)We usaully put in at Ladds and some times Tower Park still gotta get to Lost Isle this year take the digicam. and post some pics woo hoo!! Everybody be safe, already to many accident's this year and the season's just starting. http://free.***boat.net/ubb/smile.gif

I make a 10-day trip to Hogan every year. Great lake to camp at with the family. We usually put together a 4 to 5 boat camp trip. This year we will be there Aug 9-18. Hope to run into a few of you there.

Is 3 miles from Hogan close enough? We can hear the boats on Sat morning and are out there just about every weekend + 3 nights a week. Several of us (about 30+ boats) are getting together from July 2nd through the 6th in Oak Knoll Campground. Cliff Run on Sat and Pot Luck BBQ on Sunday. Look us up.

I don't have any pictures of Bullard, but it's really pretty. The bad thing is, no place to beach your boat. Camp Far west has some good races, lots of hot flats. Hope to check out one of the lakes this weekend.

I've never been hassled for speed on Anderson, but maybe I should keep my mouth shut because it would only take a couple more ***boats out there to start attracting some unwanted attention... Calero is an another story but it's just a bath tub anyways.

LO,
The Tower Park Run is Aug 23-25. You can find info on it at www.laidbackboaters.com (http://www.laidbackboaters.com) or in the Squirtfest and Events Calendar section at www.banderlog.com (http://www.banderlog.com)
I think we've got somewhere around 40 boats coming and only 1 campsite left (I think)
I haven't kept up on it the last few days as I've been at Rollins Lake since last Friday.
I'm heading back up there now for a couple of more days so I'll catch you all later.

Haven't made it out last couple of weekends, been waiting for a few parts so I can get it back together. It's usually the smoothest lake around. I know its been unseasonably windy lately.

Hey Jimsride, As far as sinking, your far better off in the Delta as far as I've seen lately. Even the rollers from the occational cruiser are smaller than the ones in a lake full of wake boats! So come on you'll like it and the Delta is fast becoming my boating place of choice! http://free.***boat.net/ubb/biggrin.gif

Thanks Jim! I'm still looking to get more pics from anyone that can send them to me. I'll take pics of any lakes and their campgrounds along with a little write up.
Don is right, the Delta has much better water than any lake I've been to on any given weekend. Rollins Lake gets a little choppy in the main body on the weekends, especially a holiday weekend.
I'm curious, where have you been in the Delta to have such a fear of getting your boat sunk? I've spent 20+ years, off and on, on the Delta and have yet to have that worry at all.
Did you also check out the pics of the Delta on my website? 99% of those are taken on a weekend.
Come to think of it, I can't remember any time when we spent the night at the Delta where I even took any of my boats out of the water. Here's a link to one of my pages on the Delta. http://www.laidbackboaters.com/id3.htm
some were taken around the marina where we leave the boats over night and others were taken in the main channels around Tower Park.

I'm not sure if that's mine or not.. Don't see any rugrats scrambling around the boat which would be a dead give away.
Also, I don't recall ever seeing your's either and I wouldn't miss a pair of O/Ts at Anderson they tend to be a bit rare at that lake.... I'll be looking for you in the future though!

I'll be keeping an eye out though, you do the same. I'd like to say "I'll buy you a silver" but, alas, I don't drink when I'm out on the water... I'll sport as much 7up as you can drink though ;-)
