I am just curious what the average cost to rebuild a motor is. We are talking about Honing the cilinders new rings, bearings, valve job and all of the machine work as well (heads etc.) ? Just wanted to see if someone had any experience with this and what the cost was?

Depends on motor, what kind of condition, any upgrades, replace bad worn out parts? etc?

572 merlin block, brodix heads etc. not blown, less than 40 hours no worn out parts other than rings and bearings because head gaskets went.

Just pulled all the parts of my BBC outta da machine shop, bore, new pistons, bearings, rings, rod end repairs, crank work, balance, etc. etc. and the bill was $2100 which is pretty cheap. Now all I have to do is put the bullet together, est. another $300 and break it in....

$2500...spun a rod bearing in a 454. Saved the crank, went back with bearings, pistons, cam, gaskets, etc. We pulled the motor and re-installed it.
